Elbow surgery likely to end Brodrick Bunkley's season

The Philadelphia Eagles have likely lost a starting defensive lineman for the season.

Eagles coach Andy Reid said defensive tackle Brodrick Bunkley needs elbow surgery and probably will miss the rest of 2010.

Bunkley, a 2006 first-round draft pick who had played in every regular-season game for three years, suffered the elbow injury Sunday night in San Francisco.

The status of several other injured Eagles, including quarterback Michael Vick (ribs), left tackle Jason Peters (knee), cornerback Asante Samuel (concussion) and wide receiver Riley Cooper (concussion) has not been determined for Week Six against the Falcons.

Sucked Anyway, not a big loss. What a bust. Not big enough and not good enough. Eagles like little guys and they should be drafting monsters in the middle.

Big loss for eagles, probably their best player on defense, the guy gets a lot of double teams so he doesnt have huge numbers.
Im not positive hes their best defensive starter, but he is without a doubt their most talented, dude did 45 reps of 225 at the combine.

Wow, wtf?! I think maybe it’s time to replace the whole training/conditioning staff. Who the hell else are we gonna lose to injury?

They looked better against the run after he left the game…

I’m not sure how many of these freak injuries can be blamed on the strength and conditioning staff. I mean, did you see the play and what happened to his arm? Nasty stuff.

Dammit, the Eagles really are dropping like flies. Weaver, Jamaal Jackson, Bunkley, etc. Wow too many injuries.

I wonder if Antonio Dixon will get the start over Trevor Laws. Laws has been playing a lot of snaps in the nickel and in certain pass rush situations. Maybe his production might go down if he has to play a lot more downs and has to try and stop the run as well.

@ Lex. Do you watch the eagles?? This guy has been an absolute disappointment. I think he has only 5-6 sacks in his career. He’s consistently being pushed right out of plays on single blocking. Best on the line? I believe Trent Cole, the pro bowl de who usually is in the top of the NFL for sacks every year may be a little better.

The one who said Bunkley sucked looks at stats and dosnt understand the DT position. The one who said it is a big loss is right and must actually watch games and understands the Dt position in the Eagles offense. Bunkley is single handedly the reason the Eagles improved in run defense after 2007.

Falcons will spank these chumps with or without these injured players.
