I have been saying the exact same for almost six years. Usually teams that build primarily through the draft like the Steelers, have great depth. Injuries have never derailed their playoff hopes, only lack of referee cooperation.
However, the New Ted Packers, who completely abhor free agency, clearly don’t have that depth. They clearly don’t have more than a handful of quality starters (most of whom are now out with injuries) either. They do save a lot more money than other teams though, and that is all Ted and his fans really care about.

It is almost guaranteed that the slackers lose the next two games, maybe more. Dolphins and Vikings are superior teams without those injuries. Now that the seed of excuse is planted in the players heads…

We would still beat you. However, Adrian Peterson should not be compared to Ryan Grant because he is our leading rusher. Losing Peterson would be like you losing Greg Jennings and Donald Driver. However, this year we have played without Mckinnie and Loadholt at times, Sullivan our Center, our 2nd and 3rd CBs, Gerhart (who is more comparable to Grant’s talent), Rice, Shiancoe, and Harvin. But our losses are because we suck and yours are because you are injured.

Packers fan for many years and when I saw the preseason predictions, I cringed. A ton of injuries on this team but no excuses from me – how you deal with it shows what you are made of. All teams have them- just seems like the Pack has had way more than their share. The only thing I can say with all honesty is that I truly believe that the Packers and the Vikings each have the worst head coaches in the league. BOTH look totally lost…….

He’s not dead, but he doesn’t know the difference at this point. McCarthy is a chump and his team has been nothing but big talk since he got there. This is a .500 team. Bet.

No, I’m honestly trying to say that the Packers just aren’t that good of a team and all you nonsensical Packer fans need to stop whining and making excuses. Everyone has injuries, and to better players than Jermichael Finley and Clay Matthews (such as Jay Cutler and Lance Briggs). And if you would have watched the game without your green and gold glasses on, you would have noticed that the Skins were missing several key players too, including several on their o-line which is at least part of the reason why Matthews was able to do so well. Injuries are part of the game and if you don’t have the depth to account for it, then clearly you aren’t that good of a team.

Of common opponents thus far this year, the Vikes crushed the Lions whereas the Pack had to hang on to win by 2 at Lambeau. Remember also, the Pack hasn’t played a single team with a winning record this year and have still struggled, what are they gonna do when they play the tough part of their schedule……I think we all know the answer to that. As McLardy said yesterday when talking about Rodger’s performance, ” he gets paid to win not to look good………(stats)”

Any thought that the Packers just aren’t conditioned properly? No this does not mean they are not tough, not willing to gut it out?
But given the rash of injuries which the Packers have suffered over the past few years, could this be a systemic problem in the way the training staff prepares the team?

And no one’s asking for special protection for Rodgers but when he gets speared by a helmet to helmet hit, a flag should be thrown. Redskins will happily pay the fine but come on… Packers gave the ball back to Cutler after he took a helmet by Zombo (called appropriately)… this one on Rodgers was clear cut.

I don’t know why Derrick Martin is referred to as a “special teams ace.” He plays on special teams. Occasionally he makes a tackle. The Packers have no special teams aces, nor do they have a special teams coach. TWICE in the Washington game we had the wrong number of players on the field in kicking situations. “Inspector CluSlocum” should be reading the want ads right now.
The only good thing is that there are no really good teams in the NFC. If – and I admit it’s an if – the Packers can stumble their way to a 10-6 or maybe even 9-7 mark and get relatively healthy at the end of the year, they have as good a chance of getting to Dallas as anyone else.

Packers aren’t just missing some starters. They lost their #1 playmaker on both offense and defense…if you watched the game you would have noticed the Redskins did absolutely NOTHING on offense until Clay Matthews went out. He was dominating them.
I also agree with McCarthy’s inability to make adjustments. Capers also seems to not be able to adjust on the fly, especially for being “one of the best defensive minds in football.” I’m getting more and more frustrated with coaching each week but I’m not ready to throw the towel in yet. If we can hang on be a game above .500 by our bye-week, we should be able to get healthy and make a run…remember, all you have to do is make the tournament, ask the ’07 Giants.

Aaron Rodgers and this core team with this core coaching staff will win a superbowl within the next 3 years. The future for the Bears who went all-in this year only to flame out miserably (watch,wait and see) and the Vikings with their drug abusing defensive line that hide behind state judges and washed up dirty old man quarterback will also flounder and fall.
Then again, if I rooted for those sad franchises, I’d cheer really loudly now cause the good times will be short lived.

We were 4-4 last year with a loss to Tampa on the books, and then we went on a tear to end the season, winning 7/8. The one loss? A last second TD to lose by one point to the defending champs. Forgive me for wanting and hoping that my team has success. Is thinking my favorite team can recover from all the injuries optimistic? It sure is, but that is why I am a fan. If I want to hope that my team can bounce back and still make it, what difference does it make to you? When they are losing by two scores with two minutes left, if I want to think that they can force a turnover, score, then get the onside kick and score again, why can’t I?
Optimism is what keeps fans coming back. Without optimism, my coworker, a Lion’s fan, would have stopped watching football a LONG time ago. Without optimism, there would no longer be any Cubs fans. Without optimism, there would not be a single Bills fan in the stadium for their home games.
I will continue to think my team can win every game they play, regardless of the situation, because that is what makes me a fan.

Silly Packer fans. The reason you lost was because Clinton Portis and Albert Haynesworth dominated your team. That and the great play of the Skins’ offensive line of Jamal Brown, Trent Williams, Derrick Dockery. Wait…what’s that? The Redskins had injuries too? Can’t be. Clearly the Packers are the only team with injuries because there is no way they could ever lose a game unless they have injuries. Oh yea, or if the refs cheat and decide to call obvious penalties…the haters.
No, the truth is the Packers just aren’t as good as the “experts” predicted. The offensive line is awful. Special teams poor. Secondary very suspect, even before the inexperienced safeties got hurt. And the coaching is just laughable (other than Capers). It has nothing to do with injuries or refs – they just aren’t that good.

It seems as though every game they jump all over their opponent in the first half, then the other team makes adjustments and the Pack fails to do so. I agree, I couldn’t have said it better. mm needs to be able to understand that good coaches make adjustments, he dosn’t seem to make adjustments at half and gets spanked in the second half. And questionble calls, not kicking a field goal? Throwing a review flag when the play happened in front of the Packers bench? His coaching has cost the Pack at least one game and I would say possibly two.
No excuses from me a good team would have found a way to win the two games. We are close talent wise, there is something missing. The IT factor that great teams have we are missing. Until we find a way to bring that to the field stupid penalties, mental breakdowns, special teams gaffes etc. are going to stand in the way of this team rising to even divisional champions.
