MRI Monday in Green Bay as injuries reach crisis point

The Packers are hardly the only team to be hit hard by injuries this season, but they had a particularly vicious Sunday against the Redskins. The results of MRI Monday in Green Bay could go a long way in determining how they recover.

Tight end Jermichael Finley, defensive tackle Ryan Pickett, linebacker Clay Matthews, tight end Donald Lee, and special teamer Derrick Martin will undergo further testing after leaving Sunday’s game in Washington. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers needs to pass concussion tests to play next week against Miami.

“It’s never been this bad. I’ve never experienced it in my 10 years,” Pickett said via the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

While running back Ryan Grant and linebacker Nick Barnett won’t be returning this year, it remains to be seen how serious the injuries above are. Packers fans feel like the sky is falling, but it’s only Week Five.

The Packers face the Dolphins, Vikings, Jets, and Cowboys the next four weeks before their bye. If they can just survive that stretch with, say, a 5-4 record, they will be in good enough shape to get healthy and make a playoff push late.

That’s what championship-caliber teams do, regardless of injuries.
