Favre unhappy that Longwell talked about meeting

Vikings kicker Ryan Longwell is known as one of Brett Favre’s best friends in football.

When Longwell told ESPN’s Michelle Tafoya about Favre’s tearful explanation to his teammates about the Jenn Sterger saga, Longwell probably wanted to show Favre’s softer side.  He wanted to tell America how difficult this latest drama was for his friend.

Asked about the talk after the game, Favre made it clear he wishes the talk stayed in-house.

“That’s between me and my teammates . . . apparently not all of them,” Favre said.

Favre also didn’t want to address the media about the Sterger investigation.  He seemed even more frustrated with his balky elbow. Despite coming off a bye week, Favre struggled with tendinitis.

“This is probably the worst it’s felt in four games,” he said. “I missed
some throws the last drive, I think I make in my sleep. Really the last
two drives.”

Favre also made a number of excellent throws in the second half.  But his head-scratching misses and some typically poor decisions brought back bad memories for Jets fans.  On Monday night, however, Jets fans reveled in watching Favre in pain.

    What a piece of work this guy is. Everyone knows Favre asked him to leak that. If he’d actually NOT choked the game away he’d be fine with it because he’d have come out looking good and his media sycophants would’ve been fawning all over him. But now he looks like a clown for invoking crocodile tears to get his teammates to cover his ass.
    And this is the same guy that made some comment a couple months ago about he “can’t trust” Bus Cook after he made the primadonna comment in the Men’s Health article……………the same guy who is married and sending pole shots to other women is talking about “trust” issues. Priceless.

  4. Gotcha says: Oct 12, 2010 11:06 AM

    His elbow only hurts after incompletions and on the sideline. He can fist pump like he’s on Jersey Shore after he throws a TD.

  5. CaptainFantastik says: Oct 12, 2010 11:08 AM

    And wait…..isn’t Favre the same guy that held a “closed door players-only” meeting after the first Vikings loss and then went in front of cameras and told the media everything that had been discussed…….behind closed doors? Yep, that was him.

  6. joelvis72 says: Oct 12, 2010 11:11 AM

    He reminded me of some mime or silent movie actor, moving his arm around as if to say “See, look how much pain I’m in!” What a drama queen.

    He’s got a string of excuses for every occasion. That must be what he worked on instead of gouing to training camp.

    Weird how he could pump his balky arm like a lunatic in the third quarter, but it hurts after he telegraphs an awful pick-six.

  12. Jeremy says: Oct 12, 2010 11:14 AM

    I wonder if he realized Longwell was the one who spilled the beans? Those two are best buds, I thought.
    Also, if Favre’s elbow was hurting so badly, what was the point of throwing that Hail Mary pass at the end of the game. Is there some way to score 9 points in 2 seconds that I don’t know about? He’s putting added stress on the elbow for no reason.

  13. Ddub says: Oct 12, 2010 11:15 AM

  14. MkePackFan says: Oct 12, 2010 11:15 AM

  19. HarrisonHits says: Oct 12, 2010 11:20 AM

    Of course he doesn’t want to talk about things or have teammates talk about things that show him to be the total a-hole that he is. Funny thing that.
    And the elbow excuse is laughable. Farve sucks and constantly makes horrible decisions. He couldn’t even hold onto the ball last night on direct snaps.
    How much did the Vikes bump Lord Farve’s contract this year to get him back, 5 mil 6 mil ? ROFL

  20. pkrlvr says: Oct 12, 2010 11:21 AM

    What a bunch of douchebags you guys are. He’s a 41 year old dude behind a shitty o line who’s taken some killer hits this year already. On top of that he’s played for 20 years straight and all you assholes do is talk shit about his “excuses” as if he’s made so many. Think for yourselves instead regurgitating Florios idiotic ideas about Favre.

    Favre’s best performance of the season had to be during that press conference. Apparently I wasn’t the only one who watched Frost/Nixon recently. Favre was downright Nixon-esque; long, droning answers that were completely off base from the question. Bravo Favre, Bravo.

    He’s had that elbow excuse for years. I remember watching him on the Jets play the Fins the last game in 2008, and every damn time he threw an incomplete or INT he would hold his elbow. Mysteriously, every single time one of his balls was caught his elbow was fine.
    GFY, Brett. You’re not even close to useful anymore.

    The Vikings really stink. They are terrible, and next year it will be even worse. Like Chilly told them, better do it this year, because next year this team gets dismantled as they try to get some of Zygi’s money back. It’s going to be a long next five years for Vikings fans. Two years from now everyone will look back on the Favre era and recognize what a collosal mistake it was.

    So apparently his arm only bothered him on the “sucky” passes?
    This jacka$$ has more ready-made excuses than any pro athlete ever dreamed of, and apparently has been plagued by physical issues that have badgered him throughout a career of bone-headed and untimely interceptions?
    Just admit it, Brett, at crunch time, you suck.
    And without a doubt he sent Longwell out, with the intention of building a tear jerker response of sympathy for his plight, only to throw Longwell under the bus when it was over. Nice teammate.
    Lastly, has one single person heard one single denial from Favre that it was his voice on those messages, that it was his “junk” in those photo’s, and that those texts were sent from his phone? You morons can claim that Stenger and the massage therapists were all skanks (just like the coed and the Vegas woman in Roethlisberger’s cases!), but even if you are right about that, how does that excuse a forty year old married man and NFL superstar sendng “cock shots’ of himself, solicited or not?????

    Favre should be suspended. It doesn’t matter if the woman in question participates in the investigation or not. Goodell has already made that perfectly clear.
    The pictures and texts should be made available for everyone to see and judge. And since he hasn’t been in trouble before, a 2-4 game suspension sounds about right–with 2 games back for good behavior.
    Goodell, can you punish the golden boy for his behavior, or are there double standards. oh, wait…

    Favre is now taking a page out of the CryQueens book, when you lose, you make up excuses.
    Notice he didn’t mention his INT or his fumbles. No, its all about his elbow.
    I don’t care if it swells up to the size of his penis, which isn’t much from what I seen in the pix, he should man up and take the loss like a man.
    But what do you expect from him when his own head coach would run off the field after a loss without shaking the opposing coach’s hand? Poor sportsmanship is also evidence in the Star Caps case so it seems to be an institutional problem with the CryQueens.

    “Mr. Fumblepunt McPick, Aaron Rodgers….”
    @LordTed ,
    I’m a Pats fan but even I see how stupid your little nickname for Rodgers is.
    You might want to try looking at the actual stats since he’s been starting -
    2008 = 28 TDs, 13 INTs
    2009 = 30 TDs, 7 INTs
    2010 = 9 TDs, 6 INTs
    Those are pretty good ratios all around. I’m guessing you’re a Vikes fan, so you might want to put your little label on Farve, who although he holds the league records for most TDs thrown in a career, also holds the records for most INTs and fumbles in a career.

  51. Didier says: Oct 12, 2010 12:25 PM

  52. Katie says: Oct 12, 2010 12:27 PM

    1) Actually, my opinion of Favre is based on his own words and actions over the years. There is nobody to blame for Favre’s behavior over the years except Brett Favre.
    2) Having served in the US Coast Guard I directly participated in over 20 SAR cases that led to the saving of human lives. I’ll take thatover anything Favre has ever done….which is toss around a football. Whoopty do.

    LOL at the Viking fans who automatically attack the Packers fans and Aaron Rodgers as if those fans are the only ones in the league who are sick of the Queen’s antics. Favre has tarnished his image with his crybaby, me-first attitude. The rest of the NFL football fans look down upon the Vikings for sucking up to him and shake our heads with pity and disdain.
