Jay Cutler should be back Sunday

Thankfully, we shouldn’t have to spend this week debating the merits of Todd Collins versus Caleb Hanie.

Bears quarterback Jay Cutler was cleared to fully participate in practice on Wednesday according to Jason La Canfora of NFL Network.  Cutler is in line to return to the starting lineup against the Seahawks in Week Six.

Chicago coach Lovie Smith also said Monday he thinks left tackle Chris Williams could return this week.  ESPNChicago.com, meanwhile, reports that Hanie will pass Collins on the depth chart at quarterback.

Bears fans can only hope that decision doesn’t make much of a difference the rest of the season.

Thank God. Now I won’t have to start Max Hall again in fantasy (yes I know he’s on a bye, but still).

Hey – you should be confident that the Bears know when they’re doing with respect to the backup QB situation. After all, it only took them 3 quarters and 4 picks on Sunday to realize what the fans knew before the game started – that Hanie is the only guy on the team qualified to be a backup QB. Still – only 3 quarters. They know what they’re doing.

The return of cutler is amazing. 75% of the readers here could have duplicated the effort by Collins. That was a true dumpster fire of a game. I was embarrassed to tell people I watched it.

The Bears couldn’t have been luckier last week, playing the worst team in the league when Cutler had to sit out. Toss 4 INT’s against any other NFL team and let’s see the results. They’ve now beaten an 0-5 team, a 1-4 team (barely), a 1-3 team and the Packers (barely). Still not convinced.

Right, and that tends to be the trend with this coaching staff constantly–for example, I’m sure I wasn’t the only Bears fan who must have screamed at the T.V. countless times on Sunday,
“WHY?!?! ARE?!?! YOU!?!? EVEN?! TRYING?! TO?!?! THROW!?!?! THE BALL?!?!?!
With the lead and the game well in hand, with Forte & Taylor running well, with Collins playing like a spastic, drunken, retarded baboon playing catch with the defenders, who also did something stupid with the ball EVERY time he tried to throw it, and our defense/special teams playing very well–what was the point? Why even throw AT ALL?
How long did we scream that Ron Turner was a bum who needed to go?

It’ll be great to get Jay back and we can continue to just win baby and get knocked around here by BiQueeens and FudgePacker fans whose teams keep getting further behind division leading Chicago. Williams’ return will be icing on the cake. Go Bears!

Much as I hate to say it, Williams’ absence may not have really been THAT much of a loss.
I’m still not sold on him–ESPECIALLY as a 14th overall pick.
I better see more out of him, especially in his purported area of strength: pass protection.

Keep your eye on Earl Thomas this Sunday – Cutler’s in for a surprise ! I’m also thinking Clemmons or Curry might reintroduce him to the ground a couple of times . How’s those back-up QB’s playing in Chicago these days ?
Our run defense is #2 in the league , and we have Marshawn Lynch running the ball now after getting rid of that waste of roster space Julius Jones . The Hawks have maybe the best Special Teams unit in the league ; this ain’t gonna be the cake-walk Bears fans may think it is …
I’m not saying the Bears shouldn’t win the game in their house – they’re a good team and I respect that . But it’ll be harder fought than some might think . Don’t be surprised if it’s close at the end .
    GO HAWKS !!

Did you forget the Bears destroying the Vikings in the second to last game of the season last year. Think before you talk. So sick of these ignorant Vikings and Packers fans.
Your solid D???? What D you lost 3 games already! We have the best D in the NFC North in case you haven’t been watching the NFL this year.
Bears 4-1 Vikings 1-3 (in 3rd place) so put you viking horn up your…….

  19. ChicagoJo says: Oct 12, 2010 3:41 PM

Pervy. What planet do you live on? The only thing your offense is evolving into is a shadow of its former self. Your D is finally being exposed as a front heavy mirage. Favre’s miracle resurgence is over, welcome to 40 year old reality.
Vikes will get iced by the Bears, but it doesn’t make a difference because by Nov 14 you’ll have 6 losses and be all but out of playoff contention. Maybe it’ll be the BEars that put the nail in your coffin. Remember THAT.

    “evolving offense”
    @Pervy xx,
That’s a good one. “Evolving” ROFL How many INTs and fumbles does Farve have to have in each game for it to go from “Evolving” to “Sucking” ?
Because it certainly qualified as sucking last night.

I’m sorry…. did the Bears not beat the Vikings last year and knock you out of home field for the playoffs?
You remember… that was the year you said that the Vikings were going to the Super Bowl.
You are 1-3 no matter how you look at it and they are NOT even going to the playoffs this year.

The Seahawks might have a good team but that team rarely leaves Qwest field. Take it easy with the special teams talk. Dave Toub has been the premier Special teams coach. The Bears ST will be up to the challenge. I agree it will be a closer game than people are talking about.

The only thing the Viqueens are is the second most overrated football team going into 2010 behind the Dallas Cowgirls. It will be interesting to see who wins the suck bowl this weekend.
I love your keeping it real though… when will your geriatric quarterbacks ankle fall off? Keep believing the false hype that is the Viqueens as they will be 3rd after the season is over.

  30. Chicago6 says: Oct 12, 2010 5:12 PM

@Pervy – I understand you’re upset that the Bears schedule was front loaded with garbage and under achieving teams, but that is a “you” problem. Yes you are right about the Bears probably not having this same kind of success in the later part of the year. Here are some facts for you to chew on for a while. Brett Farve is 1-3 the last 4 times he has played the Bears 0-2 in Soldier Field. Also note the upgrade of Peppers on the D-line. I think the last time Farve saw Peppers he got benched to protect Lord Farve.
The Vikings schedule doesn’t get any easier this year. So the possibility of them missing the playoffs is a real chance especially if they don’t beat the Cowboys this weekend.
As far as the deep dish pizza I am happy to see you think American Pie references are funny. I bet you impress all your friends with Sean William Scott impersonations. Quit being a moron

Clearly Pervy you are referring to that melon sitting on your neck. I am guessing there is still some swelling from getting your face beat in on the backyard brawl home videos. 33. Chicago6 says: Oct 12, 2010 6:01 PM

Also pervy just one more tidbit, keep talking all the crap you want but you can’t escape time. The bears on offense are young and have players that will be sticking around. As for the vikings, this is not the case. Farve is old and I’ll take a bet that Moss isn’t there next year. Have fun with T jack or who ever you get to replace farve.

  34. Jabberwocky says: Oct 12, 2010 6:17 PM

Pervy – Just one question. Why do you keep using ellipses? (dot dot dot, in case you don’t know the word). There’s no purpose for it. It’s a bad habit employed almost exclusively by teenage girls who seem to think that the rest of the world can somehow infer the larger meaning behind their ramblings. Add to your juvenile and effeminate use of ellipses your idiotic name calling (is “Chicago Butt Hairs” really the best you have?) and I’m sorry, but you’re not even a mediocre forum troll. On the positive side, you have the balance of the season to improve your game, so let’s see if you can stop your winless streak.

This all reminds me of a bunch of rats squabbling over 3-week old garbage.
Why split hairs? The entire North sucks this year. Bears suck because of poor O-Line play, Vikings suck because of poor passing and the worst playcalling in NFL history, Packers suck because Ted wouldn’t know talent if it ran him over with a truck, and Lions suck because, well, they’re the Lions.
Whatever team (and it could still at this point easily be ANY of the four) clinches this trainwreck of a division (and likely with an 8-8 record) will shortly thereafter be on the short end of a first round playoff blowout for the ages anyhow.
So why brag? Why throw verbal javelins over which one sucks a little less than the other three? That’s all this is, and it’s almost as embarrassing as our respective teams’ performances so far this season. Just relax, sit back and watch the comedy unfold. This season is far from over, and it’s not looking like it will improve for any of us.
