More bad news for Vikings

At 1-3, the Vikings have to prepare on a short week for their “Do or Die Bowl” with the similarly disappointing Cowboys.  It sounds like Minnesota will have to face Dallas without one of their key defenders.

Judd Zulgad of the Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports cornerback Cedric Griffin will get an MRI on his right knee on Tuesday.  Zulgad says it sounds like the news may not be good.

Griffin, a fifth-year player that signed a contract extension last year, tore his ACL in his left knee in the 2009 playoffs.  Griffin was helped off the field in the fourth quarter Monday night.

Losing Griffin would be a big blow to a thin secondary.  Rookie cornerback Chris Cook is also recovering from a knee surgery.

Welcome to the NFC North … the injury capital of the National Football League.

Oh boo hoo. It’s not really bad news til they lose their starting RB, TE, RT, SS, DE, OLB, and two ILBs for a notable amount of time.

Muhammad Ali held on too long, too. But we all remember the glorious days.
There’s hope for Brett and his legacy, yet.

I can’t help but be reminded of the Jermichael Finley injury on Sunday when Viking fans expressed joy over his situation. Unfortunately, this doesn’t make me happy because Cedric Griffin is not a douche. Even if he were a douche, I’d much rather watch a douche embarrass himself, like his sext-offending, my-arm-only-hurts-when-something-bad-happens-but-not-when-I’m-celebrating-a-touchdown, old number 4″ blow another game with his 42% completion percentage, two fumbles, and patented pick-6.
This also makes me happy. Since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger, 370 teams have started out 1-3 or worse. Only 29 teams (7.8 percent) rallied to make the playoffs.

Is this when Packers fans should laugh at the Vikings because one of their star players got injured? If so then….
    HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Karma is a b***h, as one commenter so eloquently put it when Finley got injured.

Defense is not the problem…our worthless offense needs to figure it out. And Chilly is a moron. Bench Farve for Gods sake if he has another game like that.

    7-9? If they’re lucky.

  8. buckifan4life says: Oct 12, 2010 11:30 AM

Call the Browns. They have plenty of CB’s and aren’t going anywhere…

Another “Mr. Bitterpants” from a Packer fan who’s team is headed back to the 1970’s…
Face it, Ted sucks, Aaron sucks, and you suck, Paker fan….and all you can do is spread your bitter bile on the internet.
I actually almost feel sorry for you Packtards….almost.
The difference between the Vikings and the Packers is that the Vikings WILL turn it around and make the playoffs….

When Griffin went down at the end of the game yesterday he looked very upset. Almost like he knew he had re-torn his ACL. You can see his is more pissed off than hurt is what it looked like on TV.

It would be easy, like all those Viking trolls to jump on here and talk smack about the Vikings and this key injury, however that is not a fair evaluation from a Packer Fan.
The truth is, the Packers and Vikings are very much similiar teams. Both are not playing up to there potential, both have many injuries that will greatly influence the course of the nex few weeks, both have great defenses that are riding a roller coaster of consistency, and both have QB’s that at anytime can be the best in the league. The 1-3 start will haunt the Vikings, but watching them last night, you just get the feeling they will be in the hunt with the rest of the NFC North come week 16 and 17. Why does 9-7 feel like it could win this league?
As much as the Packer and Vikings fans hate each other like no other, we can all agree on one thing… neither team will allow the annoying adopted step brother the Bears to win this division. They are just bad. They will lose twice to the Queens, and at Lambeau, as long as that joke they call an offense keeps it up. Lovie will be fired at the end of the season, and fat face Cutler will have another new coordinator next year.
Will be at the game vs Queens in a couple weeks, can’t wait, should be a classic……

Exactly. I don’t wish Griffin any ill will, but when you lose quite a few members of your starting lineup all at once for significant time, then you’ll have reason to be depressed. Till then it’s time to remember you can’t use injuries as an excuse!

If you’re a Viking fan why are you obsessed with the Packers? This post was about Ced Griffin’s injury, why are you bringing up Green Bay?
Because you are jealous, that’s why. Jealous of the history, the championships, the venue, the fans, and the young team with a great young qb and a bright future.
Rogers sucks, huh? You know, that’s so stupid it’s pathetic. Your post typifies what being a loser is all about.

Geez, we had to spend the whole week leading up to the Jets game reading the CryQueen fans posts about how they were going to tear it up after the Moss trade, similar to the posts leading up to the first game of the season where the Vikings were going to extract revenge on the Saints.
You would think you guys would give it rest until you reach .500. That might take all season the way its been going but I think I speak for all PFT readers in saying that we can wait.

Oh yeah, dropping like flies. Welcome to our world, Minnesota. Although, we have more like 10 players out with injury. Can you imagine how shitty you would be with 10 players out? I know of at least one player you’d be better off without though. And he should have STAYED retired. That way he wouldn’t have had to show his penis to the entire planet.

  17. Kiss Bills Rings says: Oct 12, 2010 12:34 PM

Vikes should trade for Logan Mankins to help open up holes for Peterson & keep Favre upright….You can have him for Jared Allen or your 2012 second & 4th rounder

  18. EasyDrinkingBuschLight says: Oct 12, 2010 12:35 PM

Green Bay is being brought up because you retarded Packers fans jump on every Vikings post to spew trash. Sounds like you’re the ones with purple on the brain, and that’s because you know you’re going to get throttled in two weeks.

  19. gdeli says: Oct 12, 2010 12:42 PM

They have to step up and also stop making stupid mistakes. 2 on Kleinsasser? Harvin lining up outside of Shiancoe? not good.

  20. lars thorwald says: Oct 12, 2010 12:53 PM

You just know that last pick-6 Favre threw was somehow Bernard Berrian’s fault…………

  21. Calistin says: Oct 12, 2010 12:57 PM

Vikings fans were crying all week about how good teams overcome injuries and all over the Pack, gloating over hurt players.
Well, hope you are ready to see what injuries to key players can do. You certainly talked a big enough game. Just look at Favre’s elbow, it will ruin your season b/c he’ll never get benched even for terrible play.
Vikings are far better off than the Packers, injury wise, yet still go dominated for 3 qtrs. last night…
Packers lost by a FG in their 2 losses, and didn’t play well in either game….
    Hmmm….

  22. crazyguy says: Oct 12, 2010 12:59 PM

Too bad Griffin is a solid player.
I laugh at these war of words… but mostly entertained when teams are at full strength mashing it up on the field.
    Go Pack.

  23. LBPACKFAN says: Oct 12, 2010 1:13 PM

It goes both ways…Rodgers hurt…bring on Vikings posts…Griffin hurt, bring on Packer posts. We should never celebrate injuries but for F sake our teams and fans hate each other…that’s why it’s so great!
In all honesty, hope to speedy recovery for Vikings, Packers and all other players. Personally, I am sick of seeing all these injuries.

vikings fans should want to see tarvaris jackson, he has to have a clue bout the offense now, he has potential and athleticism that #4 is not showing 2 much of

  25. Percy Nugz says: Oct 12, 2010 1:20 PM

Vikings fans have always dogged on Cedric Griffin for no good reason. He is a terrific cornerback and his abscense will hurt just as much as Sidney Rice gone. Don’t believe me? lets see how Asher Allen stacks up against top WR’s. This is terrible news for Vikings Nation.

  26. i'm president charlie! says: Oct 12, 2010 1:22 PM

No problems, Favre is a god and his presence alone will win the game

  27. BeePa says: Oct 12, 2010 1:43 PM

Farve’s antics are getting more bizarre. Closed door meetings, tearful monologues… are his teamates the last ones to know that his ship is sinking…the SS Bret Titanic?! Brett is good at charades.

  28. Pervy's Stepdad says: Oct 12, 2010 1:47 PM

Vikings fans: “Green Bay only beats bad teams.”
“Minnesota wins because they are good…you can’t help who you are scheduled to play.”
“We lost because Sidney Rice is out.”
“The Packers can’t use injuries as an excuse…good teams overcome injuries.”
“Quit crying, Packers fans, Aaron Rodgers should be able to take a hit”
“The Saints were out to hurt Favre.”
    “The Packers suck…duh huh huh”
My only response to all this hypocrisy, is if the Packers suck so bad, then in two weeks when MN beats them, that will be two wins against bad teams…but you gotta play who you gotta play, right?

  29. Jabberwocky says: Oct 12, 2010 2:25 PM

Packers and Vikes fans just need to chill out cause the Bears will be the only team heading to the playoffs. Queue the lucky, fortunate scheduling, blah-blah drivel. No SKOL for you Favreaa!

Looks like Romo might put up 500 yds on the Queen’s banged up secondary.
When they come to Soldier 2-6, the only question will be whether the Queens will change their colors from purple to rainbow when they move to LA.
