Saints say goodbye to John Carney again

John Carney’s margin for error during his latest stint with the Saints was one missed kick.

The Saints released Carney after the 46-year-old failed to convert a 29-yard field goal against the Cardinals. The team also picked up safety Matt Giordano to help on special teams. They released running back Deshawn Wynn to make room for Julius Jones.

The move to dump Carney looks harsh, but the Saints couldn’t afford to keep two kickers on the roster when they are so banged-up at other positions. They had to make a choice, and Hartley got the nod.

Of course, the Saints know Carney is always only a phone call away.
