Texans kick tires on a couple of quarterbacks

Though the Houston Texans have three quarterbacks under contract, they spent part of Tuesday eyeballing two more.

Per a league source, Colt Brennan and Jarrett Brown tried out for the team on Tuesday.

The intentions aren’t clear, but it could mean that Matt Leinart or Dan Orlovsky are on shaky ground.

The Texans also checked out four receivers:  Reggie Brown, Derek Hagan, Dexter Jackson, and Demetrius Williams.

UPDATE:  A league source suggests that the quarterbacks were brought in to throw passes to the receivers who worked out.  Then again, maybe the receivers were brought in to catch passes from the quarterbacks.

  1. Wow.
I thought they had Grossman as well. If not, someone remind me where he is.
Leinart is pathetic. Brennan would probably be a slight upgrade.

  2. It won’t matter when they come to Titan Town. They will need plenty of QBs to get past our “D”.

  3. @ carp…grossman is waiting for Mcnabb to pull a muscle in washington. It is amazing Orlovsky is still around. I liked Brennan when he was tearing it up in college. Seems like another kid like klingler or ware. If he has any legitimate skills he should be talking to buffalo and/or cleveland.

  5. Cleveland’s lost almost as many QBs to injury as we did when Ben was on suspension. They need some bodies. Houston should send something their way.

  6. @gotitans
you mean that titans D that has yielded 400 or nearly 400 passing yards in the last 3 weeks?
    That Defense?

It could mean that they got an offer for one from a couple of teams that are in need.

  8. (“I thought they had Grossman as well. If not, someone remind me where he is.”)
Washington and i hope Leinart does get released and ends up in Washington so Grossman can go.

  9. @throwtoheath
I think he’s talking about the defense that leads the NFL in sacks and red zone scoring percentage. Yards mean very little when offenses can’t score…..

  10. So, they had to bring in other QBs to throw to potentially new WRs? They think their backup QBs suck that much? Why have them on the roster in the first place?

  11. Colt Brennan would be an awesome choice & definitely breath new life into the team
    I agree…
Colt Brennan would do great. Maybe Leinart is headed to Bears/Browns????

  12. Lol….Colt Brennan.
Huge FAILURE in DC, couldn’t get a SNIFF in Oakland….tosses a few in Houston to WR’s they wanted to try out.
Wow Colt, you could really light it up! Lol
    Frail child-bearing hips….throws side-arm…..escapes a sexual predator charge in Colorado….throws for a million yards in the video-game conference (WAC)…..
    Give up up Colt.
