Brett Favre could be a game-time decision

When a guy has started 289 straight games, the mere possibility that he won’t play in a given game is stunning.

There’s a possibility that Brett Favre won’t play on Sunday, due to a case of elbow tendinitis.

It’s hard to imagine,” Vikings offensive coordinator Darell Bevell said, “but he wants to do what’s best for the team. We want to do what’s best for the team. Could it happen? Yeah, it could happen, but . . . it’s hard to see.”

At least one key offensive player isn’t worried about the possibility of Favre missing the game.

“If that’s the approach we take, then I’m all in for it,” running back Adrian Peterson said. “I’ll be ready to do my part. That’s the mindset we come into every game, making sure we establish the run game.”

A cynic could think that this is a way for the Vikings to bench Favre without benching him. Either way, a healthy Tarvaris Jackson looks to be a better option at this point than a physically and emotionally banged-up Brett Favre.
