Matthew Stafford finally returns to practice

In Week One, a hit from Bears defensive end Julius Pepper inflicted a shoulder injury on Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford. He hasn’t played since then, and he didn’t practice until Friday.

On Friday, Stafford participated in practice on a limited basis. As a result, he’s questionable for Sunday’s trip to New York to face the Giants.

Though there’s a 50-50 chance Stafford will play, it’s unlikely that he will, especially since Shaun Hill has been doing a nice job in Stafford’s absence. And it could be that the Lions have dusted off Stafford and listed him as questionable in the hope that the Giants may waste some time preparing for the possibility that he’ll take the field.

Next week, the Lions have a bye. They return on Halloween with the visit from the Redskins, the team the Lions beat last year to end a 19-game losing streak.
