Titans center Eugene Amano injures ankle in Saturday practice

The Titans added a name to their injury report following practice on Saturday when Eugene Amano hobbled off the field.

The starting center didn’t return to the workout and was listed as questionable with an ankle injury by coach Jeff Fisher. Amano told Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean that he plans to play on Monday night against the Jaguars.

“It is always a bad feeling when you do something, but it is one of those
things. We’ll do some more treatment on it but I think I’ll be all
right. It is just more frustrating. It is part of the game, you just
have to learn how to fight through it.”

After spending the last two years as a starting guard, Amano replaced Kevin Mawae at center when the longtime Pro Bowler’s contract expired after the 2009 season. He has struggled with the transition. Fernando Velasco, who came in when Amano suffered a stinger against Dallas, would be the likely replacement if Amano isn’t able to play.
