Bucs lose backup running back Kareem Huggins for the season

Undrafted Bucs running back Kareem Huggins was one of the better stories of the preseason. The Hofstra product made the Bucs as the team’s backup, forcing Derrick Ward off the roster.

The story didn’t remain quite as sweet in the regular season.

Huggins tore his ACL in Sunday’s game, coach Raheem Morris confirmed Monday. Huggins finishes the season with only four carries for a struggling Bucs running game. Cadillac Williams had only 18 rushing yards on ten carries Sunday.

“It’s been five games and the run game has been invisible,’' Williams said via the Tampa Tribune.

Tampa Bay is dead last in yards-per-carry, and 31st in rushing yards. (Thanks Broncos!) Meanwhile, Ward has proven to be a big addition for the Texans.
