Bobby Carpenter’s stay in Miami lasted only four games.
Howard Balzer reports the Dolphins cut Carpenter on Monday. A former first-round pick of the Cowboys, Carpenter was picked up by Miami before Bill Parcells slid into a consultant role. He was cut by St. Louis after Dallas traded him to the Rams in the offseason.
Maybe the Cowboys could use some help at linebacker on passing downs.

He can’t disengage blocks, which means that he can’t play linebacker in the NFL. He is a better athlete than his father was, but he chose to play the wrong position.
I love the lack of key elements in the writing here… what position did he play? sorry I dont follow Miami that closely. You might wanna develop a stricter ruleset regarding positions. As in, “cut [linebacker, kicker, safety] Carpenter” Dont assume we know every player from every team. Thanks,

If the cowboys are looking for help on passing downs, a good way not to get it is to sign Carpenter.
If, however, they want to have their punts blocked and allow kick returns for TDs, Carpenter is their man.

Just don’t let him play special teams.
He made 2 or 3 good plays on defense but proved to be a liability on special teams. This comes as no surprise. Now if we could just get someone better than Lydon Murtha we might actually go an entire game with some clean kicking…

Hopefully this means they will bring Micah Johnson up from the practice squad. I loved him when he was in college and he played well in the preseason. Maybe can make an impact with the real bullets flying.

johnson should of been in the 53 man roster from the get go… he played well in preseason
Another linebacker bust from “Linebacker “U”!
The list of linebackers coming out of OSU who have busted in the NFL is growing larger every year. Start with Andy Katzenmoyer and finish with Vernon Gholston and Carpenter.
If I was an NFL GM, I’d skip Linebacker U when looking for a can’t miss LB and turn my attention to USC!
FINALLLY!!!!!!!! This guy was not very good (made a couple plays though) and cost the team on special teams. He seems to have been a Parcells charity signing anyway. The dolphins have a few too many cowboy rejects as it is. How about signing/playing guys that actually want to and know how to play for a while and see where that goes.
