Tomlinson can't help enjoying San Diego's demise a little

It wasn’t LaDainian Tomlinson’s best game of the year, but it sure felt familiar.  The Jets running back’s remarkable comeback story continued in Denver with 16 carries for 55 yards and two touchdowns, including the game-winner.

The scores give Tomlinson 21 career touchdowns against the Broncos.  The first 19 came with the Chargers, his old team that can’t win on the road.

Asked by Bob Glauber of Newsday whether he took added satisfaction in his old team struggling, Tomlinson couldn’t help himself.

“No comment,” he said with a grin. “The smile says it all.”

Never cared for this guy in SD, ever, but even a Pat’s fan had to feel badly for him the way he got turned out by the Chargers. So I want to feel good for the guy getting this new chance and doing well with it, even if it’s with the Jets……
then he goes and says something stupid again.
Can’t this guy EVER be humble?

This from a self described “classy guy” following a loss to the Patriots when he called them out for beating his team of destiny, the Chargers. Look out RATS fans this guy is a sore loser. He is playing great now but see if it continues into the late season. LT may not care for that cold north wind.

  3. Citizen Strange says: Oct 18, 2010 11:19 AM

Like 99.999% of pro athletes Tomlinson is a self absorbed, self important, a-hole who thinks it is a great test of character and heroism to go from one team paying him millions of dollars to play a game to another team paying him millions of dollars to play a game.

  4. The Real Shuxion says: Oct 18, 2010 11:19 AM

He can enjoy it as well when he is on the bench sulking watching Sanchez play with broken ribs when the Jets need him in a playoff game.

But if a “no comment” comment is trash talking, then those 2 idiots from SD are spewing a landfill from their mouth, and they are getting their just desserts.

I am a Charger fan, and was very happy that LT is playing well. I disagree that the Chargers treated him badly on his way out. He was given 2 seasons after injuries to show he could still get it done. He was not able to. Why didn’t he run with the kind of authorty last year? Yes, he may be running behind a better O line but if LT would have worked as hard as he did this off season to get ready to play for the Jets last year, he might have stayed a Charger. Unltimately, LT was not happy that he was no longer ” the guy” in San Diego, I can understand him grinning when asked about the Chargers demise, but he should remember that he didn’t give his all to stay a Charger.

Sorry NyJetsTaketheEastin 2010 but if he said “The smile says it all”, then he did make a comment. And it sounds like a passive-aggressive comment at that.
Apparently, you should read before calling readers or anyone you haven’t met an idiot or a moron, but you are Jests fan so maybe I shouldn’t expect much from you. Cannot wait for the wheels to come off the bus (as they always do for NY). It’s only a matter of time before LT is cowering on the sidelines in the cold weather while his team tanks it. No way the football Gods let a team a cocky, arrogant team like the Jets win it, same with Pittsburgh–karma will get both teams eventually.

Avg 3.4 yds a carry this past game look for it to continue to decrease

    M Florio:
    LaDainian Tomlinson to the Jets
Not long ago, LaDainian Tomlinson was the most dominant running back in the NFL. Over the past few years, however, it’s become obvious that a great tailback quickly can become just another guy, via age and a cocktail of injuries.
The problem is fans see the same player and think he’s the same player, and the player remembers his past exploits and believes he can will his way back to the top of the mountain.
But it simply doesn’t happen that way. Tomlinson, cut by the Chargers a year too late, became the subject of a tug-of-war between the Vikings and the Jets.
The Vikings lost, and in so doing they possibly won.
With Tomlinson’s diminished skills comes a me-first attitude that won’t be conducive to developing the right chemistry in the locker room, especially if (when) he realizes he’s there to give Shonn Greene a breather, and not the other way around.
Meanwhile, to get Tomlinson, the Jets cut Thomas Jones, who had a career year in 2009 and provided the kind of leadership that the Jets sorely will need if (when) adversity arises in 2010.
And if (when) that happens, it’ll be easy to find Tomlinson. He’ll be sitting at the end of the bench, helmet on and visor dimmed.
    PWNED!

I think many Charger fans like me are torn on rooting for LT. He simply didn’t look that good the last 2 seasons. Maybe he has more holes to run through now, but he didn’t have that burst. It was obvious. So is that the Chargers fault that he looked terrible? And what’s up with him suddenly cheering on his teammates when they do well. What’s up with him socializing on the sidelines now? In SD, he never did that. He only showed emotion when he scored. The fact that he is trying so hard to be a great teammate now to me is really fake. He’s just seems obsessed with making the Chargers look bad for letting him go.
Only 2 out of the 31 other teams even showed interest in him, so maybe he should be mad at them too.

why does everyone have to hate? the jets are 5-1, won 5 straight, tied for the best record in football. LT is playing solid, Sanchez is playing solid, and the defense is playing solid. no one makes a big deal when Tom Brady takes a shot at the Ravens, so what LT took a little shot at the Chargers? he’s put enough time in this league, while putting up some hall of fame numbers over his career. he’s playing with a chip on his shoulder cause everyone wrote him off coming to NY. i too questioned the move by cutting TJ, but it seems to be working out for everyone. lets try and give a team some credit for playing well, regardless if you don’t like them.

No it wasn’t. LT reportedly started yapping long before Rivers or Gates said a word. Do your research, buddy. There are plenty of articles that can be read online about the issue.
Rivers and Gates didn’t say anything bad about LT, but even after they spoke, it was readily apparent that the Jets and LT couldn’t drop the issue.

I am a life long Charger fan who thinks LT was not appreciated enough. I know Rivers played with injuries and LT couldn’t go, but you check with a doctor and find who is mostly likely to play with the injuries they both had. Rivers has been a talker since he came into the leauge which would rub most people the wrong way. He talks more smack then the kids I coach in youth football. I will always be a LT fan and hope he finally gets a S.B. win. Now lets see how the Charger G.M. and fans treat Rivers and A. Gates after the better part of their career is over. The G.M. felt Jackson wanted to much doe,but at the same time told teams who wanted him your not offering true value so no deal. Hopefully Norv who in my opinon isn’t half the coach Marty was will realize you can’t win the big games by just passing the ball.

For years I was a big LT fan.
The “classy guy” comment began the
slide, the sulking continued it, and
throwing the Charger o-line under the
bus was confirmed that he was not as
    “classy” as he claimed.
Just when I thought I might be able to
cheer for him again (he seemed to have
put a sock in it, lately) this dopey “smile”
comment. You’re enjoying my team losing,
LT? Fine, maybe a concussion or two
    would change your thinking…

  30. smithopher says: Oct 19, 2010 3:33 AM

LT is a class act, San Diego treated him poorly on his way out… and his way out lasted for 2+ years. It wasn’t a coincidence that LT didn’t show up in the clutch during the postseason, he had no real feeling of allegiance with the franchise. AJ Smith took so many stabs at him throughout his time in San Diego. AJ Smith is a terrible GM though, the man seems to be able to alienate all the talent on the team, and puts a talented QB coach, who has no talent as a head coach, in charge the whole team, which we’ve seen has resulted in one of the most talented team in the NFL consistently underachieving.
