St. Louis defensive end Chris Long had a major impact in the Rams’ 20-17 win over the Chargers on Sunday, and he’s been rewarded with his first NFC defensive player of the week award.
Long equaled his career high with two sacks in the game and was part of a defense that had seven sacks overall. He previously had a two-sack game in 2008 against the Patriots.
The Chargers lead the league in total offense, but the Rams did a good job of keeping them in check, holding them to 287 yards.
Long is the first Ram to be named defensive player of the week since Oshiomogho Agogwe in Week Six of 2008.
