The NFL has become a joke. I hope as many players as possible, especially on the defense, lay the wood to any and all ball carriers. Let the suspensions begin. Guess what? There won’t be enough players to play a game that someone would be interested in watching. Most will be suspended. The NFL has turned into the government. More rules , more regulations and the destruction of a once great game as well as a country.

How many guys (hitter or hittee) have you seem paralyzed through the years as a result of high hits? Paralysis is far more likely to result from a tackler/blocker/runner going low.

I lost a lot of respect for Goodell over his handling of this.
It is not like the NFL to make such rash, knee-jerk reations. That’s what the NBA does.
A couple thousand hits occured last Sunday and he’s stirred up a bunch of drama because four of them resulted in concussions.
If these were so bad why did officials standing only a few feet away only throw a flag on one of the hits?

Funny, I for one, don’t like seeing two players knocked out and motionless on the field, you want to see two people try to kill each other switch over to MMA.
Also, he’s not changing any rules, they’re just going to take steps to see that the enforcement of those rules is taken seriously by the players.

Why isn’t anyone calling out GODell for not enforcing the new rules that have been set in place for the past 3 years? Ray Anderson is claiming that the rules have been in place since then. So why are they being sporadically enforced after a weekend of hard hitting? GODell is doing great, suspending players that have never been arrested, fining players that do their F*ing jobs and hit hard, the league is close to shutting down for a year, the NFL was selling pictures of legal but finable hits yesterday, Favre suspension isn’t happening. Come on Roger, show why you are geting paid millions. The NFL is the best organized sports league in the world (and probably the most profitable) but under your watch things are falling apart. The players are unhappy, the fans are pissed. What gives? Your job should give.

I wonder if Goodell has paid any attention to NASCAR’s decline due to over-officiating and over-legislating? NASCAR is in the toilet and Goodell is dragging the NFL right in there with them! I never in a million years thought all of the trolls from PFT planet would agree on any topic, but for once we are in 100% agreement. Roger Goodell is a giant douche and is ruining the NFL! he is BY FAR the worst commissioner in pro sports history!
So go ahead Goondell, ban hitting, fine and suspend players, then add 2 more games, make players play games on Thursdays with only 3 days to recover from a Sunday game, and then say it was all because “the fans wanted it that way.”

While I do not like Goodell I do agree that there should be a punishment for FLAGRANT head to head contact, not accidental. Merriweather went after Heaps head, he even admitted it and apologizeds. I HATE Belicheck and the Pats but this was a solid on their part
To anyone that thinks Harrisons hits were both legal…read the f ing rule idiots. First hit legal as he was hitting the runner, second not legal and it was a flagrant foul.. It doesn’t make it legal because a flag wasn’t thrown. He is a piece of crap for not shutting his mouth or even apologizing like Merriweather did.
Ask yourself this. Would we feel any different if Heap or Massaquoi were paralyzed. The NFL and Union really take care of their brain dead retired players right?
If you think tackling the way you are supposed to is lame ask Dustin Keller how he felt when Ray pummeled him.
