Vikings hold 17-14 lead at halftime

The first half of the Vikings-Packers game went roughly according to plan.

It featured a ton of Packers yards, and some crucial mistakes that prevented points.

It also featured Brad Childress making a head-scratching decision at the end of the half.

Leading 17-14, the Vikings had second-and-six on their own 38-yard line with 35 seconds to go. With an offense moving the ball at will in the second quarter, Childress decided not to call another play despite having two timeouts.

Randy Moss threw his hands up in disgust and yelled at the sideline. Moss knows clock management; Childress’ decision didn’t make any sense. Childress also failed to challenge an early Packers touchdown that appeared would have been overturned.

The end of the half distracted from the fact that the Vikings are running the ball very well (130 yards) and Aaron Rodgers threw the first two red zone interceptions of his career.

Both these teams have played close games all year, and Sunday night appears no different.
