Bucs release Jerramy Stevens

Jerramy Stevens’ Bucs career essentially ended when he was arrested for possession of cannabis with intent to sell on Saturday night.

The Bucs benched Stevens Sunday, and announced they released him on Monday.

The transaction will probably mark the end of Stevens’ NFL career, as well. His long history of off-field problems, not to mention his age and skill set, should make him hands off for the rest of the NFL.

The best team in the NFC also promoted tight end Ryan Purvis to the active roster.

As Florio pointed out Sunday, the only questions remaining with Stevens regard the curious timing of the arrest, and whether a Stevens trial could implicate others on the team.
