Giants pick up Will Blackmon

Former Boston College Eagles coach Tom Coughlin has picked up former Boston College player Will Blackmon in hopes of improving the team’s return game.

Blackmon broke the news himself via Twitter Thursday, one day after working out for the team.

The former Green Bay Packer tore his ACL last season, then was waived by the Packers in September with an injury settlement.

Blackmon scored on two punt returns in 2008, when he led the NFL in combined kick and punt return attempts.

one of the few people from my home state that actually made the NFL. I wish him luck, even if I hate his new team.

Limping former Packers is the latest trend in the NFL I guess.

Tremendously talented and athletic. He just needs to stay healthy.

Packers return game is horrendous. Even if he gets hurt a lot ( This is a trend in GB) releasing him was idiotic. This is another in a long line of dumb moves by the worst GM in the league. Long live TT’s reign in GB. That will assure the Packers being a non-entity for the Super bowl prize.

Dude has got crazy skills, he just has not been able to stay on the field. After four years being on the team and only being healthy in one of those, he couldn’t take up a spot anymore.
That said, I really wish Uncle Ted wouldve brought in somebody to replace him instead of using the schmucks he has…

This coming from a Viking fan that just lost to a second string group of Packers? I will say Ted is far from a great GM but better than average easily. Ted has depth at positions that still give them a chance to make it to the playoffs with twice as many key injuries as anyone, and again they just beat The Freak 84 and the pathetic Vikings……where does a Viking fan get off talking about Super Bowls, something you obviously no nothing about….Loser

    A true Queen fan speaks!!!
I liked Blackmon. I would like him back if healthy.

You’re absolutely right. With all the injuries they’ve had it would have been wise to tie up a roster spot with a guy that hasn’t hardly been able to get on the field in four years.
I am impressed by your football knowledge. Not too many of the severely mentally challenged can even follow football.

And hey The Freak84…do you just get up in the mornings and troll on packers news? I gotta tell you i maybe once have gone to the vikings page on pft and that was to see if the rumor my buddy told me about favre crank was for real. Yeah uncle ted does suck. its so crappy to have a young, talented and deep team that still is competitive despite half the team being injured. Go crawl under bridge and smoke some meth with your fellow twinkies!! Youre delusional!!

  11. JimmySmith says: Oct 28, 2010 11:37 AM

I can’t remember a stretch of 6 games when Blackmon was healthy, always dinged up and eventually headed to IR. The biggest surprise is the Vikings didn’t sign him, that’s usually what happens when the Packers are done with a player, the Vikings immediately sign them hoping to catch some of that Superbowl magic. It doesn’t work so well as a strategy as they haven’t been there in over 30 years. And with Small Dong Favre banged up, this year isn’t looking so good either.

The least full healthy season that Blackmon had the Packers were 32 in the NFL in KR average.

The Freak 84, TT proves that you don’t need big names to win in the NFL… Vikings have big names everywhere and are 2-4. CJ Wilson and Jerious Wynn were able to do work against that Vikings O-Line with no rest, their only relief was TJ Lang who is a backup offensive tackle..
Im not the biggest fan of TT, but the ‘worst GM in the league’ traded up to get Clay Matthews when nobody was really talking about him, which turned out alright.. Win some games before you run your mouth moron

  14. tufar says: Oct 28, 2010 12:15 PM

Hey Jimmy Smith, how come you know Favre has a small dong? Maybe he’s been texting with you too? Better yet, why would you even feel the need to comment on it on a football site? A lot of your tirades on here have a sexual innuendo of some sort in them. Finally thinking of coming out of the closet are you? Go Jetz Go!!

  17. steve grogan says: Oct 28, 2010 1:24 PM

Didn’t TT draft Finley, Rodgers, Matthews, Jennings, trade for Grant and sign Woodson. These guys are all impact players, I don’t get the hate on TT, he is in the top 10 of GM’s. Who are all these great GM’s around the league that have a better track record?

  18. Infidel says: Oct 28, 2010 1:43 PM

The Freak84 even play last weekend? Never saw him make a play … against a patchwork GB defense, too …

  19. Tcostant says: Oct 28, 2010 2:08 PM

This can only help, the Giants return team is just bad. A guy coming off an ACL helps them – really!!! Really is does.

  20. The Freak 84 says: Oct 28, 2010 3:33 PM

1 thing all you idiots come back to is “long term”.
    6-10
    11-5
    4-3
21-18 after Favre. Yeah that’s long term thinking alright. long term mediocrity.
How long are you ignorant hicks going to keep buying the manure that TT is selling.
I really don’t hate the Packers, I hate their fans. Every year thinking 12-4 and a deep run to the SB. You could be sitting at 0-7 right now and you gomers would be spouting out well if we just win our next nine. No objectivity about your team whatsoever.
Yep you beat the Vikings. 2 confirmed horrible calls, confirmed by the head official, and you jack asses are still arguing he’s wrong!?!? Idiots.
You were 1 ignorant Favre pick from getting beat. You had help in the blown TD calls. you lucked out, but will never admit it. Your downward spiral starts Sunday, you had your cupcakes early, now it gets tougher. That you nermals think you have a chance with the way the team has been decimated is comical. It’s an exercise in futility. I can’t wait to see ARod creamed by the Jets D. Who gets hurt this weekend? Worst conditioned team in football.
Infidel. Yep he played, caught a TD too. Did your run defense play? AD had 132 yds rushing. You couldn’t cover Harvin and Shank either. That’s what a Moss does for your team, but only idiots like you just look at stats and think he didn’t have an effect on the game. It’s hard to believe, but This has to be the biggest gathering place of Packer moron fans ever. What am I saying, you are all morons. I usually only have to deal with you 1 at a time, not all at once. It’s mind numbing what sheep you are. Jesus, i probably shouldn’t have mentioned farm animals…too late now….enjoy yourselves.

You’re right. Ted has made some very good draft picks. He’s also made some absolutely horrible ones. Harrell, Hawk, Barbre, Rouse, Spitz, Moll, and there are quite a few others.
That’s okay though. I don’t really blame him for that. All GMs make some good draft picks and some bad. The draft is a crapshoot.
The difference is that almost every other GM compensates for their failed draft picks by signing FA’s not named Jarrett Bush, by making trades, and by generally being proactive in the building and upgrading of their teams. Ted does not.
He sits on his hands every single offseason, and then scratches his head as to why his teams have produced all of ONE playoff win in nearly eleven years in the league. Even Woodson was originally another of Ted’s signature bargain-basement signings that no other team gave a second look. He’s just the one, the ONLY one, that happened to work out.
That is not a “top ten” GM by any measure. That is a terrible GM. Even Bears and Vikings fans know it, I am truly ashamed that about a quarter of my fellow Pack fans still do not.
For a while, Millen and Savage were still working in the NFL. They’re gone now, and rightly so. While that is good news for their respective former teams, it is the worst possible news for Ted. Without them, or anyone like them, he is now: The worst GM in the National Football League.

Even if Blackmon gets hurt this year, they can just have him field punts and kicks in a wheelchair, The “runbacks” can’t be any worse than they are getting from Reynaud right now.

  23. I_H8_Waffles says: Oct 28, 2010 8:44 PM

I rarely post here but I see that this must be the place for Viking fans to take out there frustrations. Go ahead kick the Packer fans around, we can take it, and it might make you feel better for a little while but come Sunday……….the records will tell the tale. (Nermals? Really? Are you jealous Garfield? )

wow freak 84 lay off the sauce! you let to many people get under your skin, yes the pack could be 0-7 and they could be 7-0. that said the vikes could be in the same situation, but niether team is we are what we are mediocry. the nfc is so bad this year that a 8-8 team will probably make the playoffs. and EVERY team has idiot fans you sound like one of them! you call pack fans ignorant hicks? have you every been outside of the city? there are some hicks in minny too! look smoke some crack and then go over to your buddy pervy’s house and smoke him he’s got a blonde wig and a big horn he like’s to bragg about… you 2 were ment for each other! vikes are 2-4
