Bill Belichick is not falling for Brad Childess’ wily tricks

Patriots coach Bill Belichick expects Brett Favre to play on Sunday, like so many other fans of common sense.

Asked how much stock he put into reports that Vikings coach Brad Childress was leaning towards starting Tarvaris Jackson, Belichick responded:

“None. . . . I just don’t put stock in the reports. We’ll prepare for all the players. The ones that play, we’ll try to defend. The ones that don’t, we won’t. It’s fairly straight forward. . . . The same media reports that said Terrell Owens wasn’t going to play in the Super Bowl? Those ones you’re talking about?”

Nice. We guess Belichick isn’t above some subtle Childress tweaking after all.

The Patriots coach was in rare form Friday, talking about his favorite Halloween outfits. (He dressed up as JFK during the Cuban Missile Crisis.) He also said he doesn’t hold any of the incorrect reports against said reporters.

“No disrespect,” Belichick said with a smile. “Hey, we’re all wrong a lot. Some more than others. I’m wrong as much as anybody.”
