Favre says he’s ready to play next week

If Brett Favre was concussed Sunday against the Patriots, he hid it well.

Favre seemed remarkably lucid and clear-headed in his post-game press conference after the game. His session indicated that there may not be any Favre “will he or won’t he” play drama this week, after all.

“I’m ready to play next week,” Favre said, although he admitted he will probably get a concussion test to be sure.

Eight stitches were sewn into Favre’s chin, and you could barely see them. He was surprised at how healthy he felt.

“I’m shocked I was able to play and move around the way that I was. My prayers were answered. . . . I expect to play [from here on out.] I made decision to come back, feel like this team is close.”

Until he left, Favre enjoyed a solid performance. He completed 22-of-32 passes for 259 yards and an interception on a pass Percy Harvin could have caught.

Favre’s drama may subside this week, but the Vikings inability to make big plays when it matters continues. They couldn’t pick up a yard on the goal-line when they need it. They couldn’t stop BenJarvus Green-Ellis or Danny Woodhead with the game on the line in the fourth quarter.

The defense has declined, and Randy Moss hasn’t been that big of a factor. The Vikings may keep games close, but they have looked like an average team all season.
