Harrison shouldn’t be fined. It wasn’t that brutal a hit, and it got a penalty on the field. That should be end of story.

You know if Deb’s posts are so aggravating (pro- per punctuation, correct spelling, cogent thoughts) you could just skip them and go on to something simpler and less challenging for you.
Any time the NFL makes an effort to change or improve the game there’s period of adjustment or calibration. I don’t care for this particular shift, it smacks of the NBA star system, but I’m willing to see what happens. As if we had a choice.

As a Saints’ fan I can honestly say, the play didn’t warrant a flag much less a fine.
Plus if I recall correctly, replay shows Hines Ward getting hit with shoulder pad… at first glance I thought it was helmet to helmet also.

Steelers are crybabys? from a Ravens fan? the team that when they lose it’s NEVER! the ravens fault… its always the refs the refs the refs. It stems from Ray Lewis – He whines when they lose always have always will.
Every teams got players that feel when thier team loses it is not thier fault it’s always someone outside of thier team’s fault. Steelers had Joey Porter. Tho Joey was the funniest guy on the field and in warm ups he was still a crybaby at times.
I haven’t seen the Steelers write a letter to the league complaining/whining/begging the NFL to not play the Raves in primetime at the Ravens home field. As the ravens did a few years back… raven fans always forget that one =)

OK so some journalist has reported Harrison will be fined for a roughing the passer call. Has the league come out with the fine yet and if so how many players ended up getting fined for their penalties on Sunday?
On another note I love seeing all of the haters on this site. I haven’t seen many Steeler fans making excuses for the loss (hats off to the Saints for a good game) but rather fans complaining about a player getting fined. Are the teams you cheer for really that sad that the only enjoyment you get from the game is insulting fans from winning teams?

Lawboy2000, I hope you really aren’t a lawyer who graduated in 2000. Your arguements are all terribly weak. All the NFL players are united in opposing this new interpretation of rules. the fact that Torrence might get away with one, and Harrison gets one, won’t make things better or worse – the players hate ANY fine – period. They are labor union and they don’t throw each other under a bus. The talking heads make comparisons of hits, but the players do not.
Besides, this train already left the station, and it ‘aint coming back. So Harrison and everybody else in the NFL better just get used to it, and change the way they hit……….. or else pay the price for their stubborness.

To all of you two faced, hypocritical, so called “Fans” if Harrison played on your team and made this or any other hit, you would be defending him to the end of the earth! Instead of crucifying a player for doing his job to the best of his ability, why don’t you spend your time aksing the NFL to at a minimum, act consistently and fairly. And if they want to turn football into the next “Non-Contact” sport then do it all across the league! At least that way, when pay the ridicoulous amounts of money for season tickets we know what we are paying for! Instead of the weekly weakening of a once great sport!

He probably would have known Brees had gotten rid of the ball if he had been looking at Brees instead of tucking his head into the spearing position. James Harrison doesn’t tackle any other way. Probably has never seen anything but the ground on any given tackle. That said, it wasn’t an agregious hit by any means and was barely late. If he gets fined, it’s a matter of his past catching up with him. Like a serial killer getting fined for jaywalking.

That hit doesn’t warrant a fine. The Evil lord Goodell has a bug up his a$$ about the things Tomlin and James have said about the NF the last couple of weeks. Goodell is well on his way to ruining the game we all love so much. As for the people on here that think James hits too hard, way don’t ya take up watching tennis.

Looks to me like those calling for Harrison to be fined/suspended/etc. are whining at least as much as anybody else. Hypocritcal, no? Way too funny!! Look in the mirror.

It was a late hit. Not sure about if it’s worth a fine though. Had he not had his previous fines, they probably wouldn’t fine him for this hit. The $75,000 fine on the Massaquoi hit was too steep.
That being said, please trade him to the Bengals. At least he’s actually getting to the QB.

It boggles the mind how people can look at 2 plays, and see them completely different. I am sure it has nothing to do with fan bias (LMFAO, almost said it with a straight face).
The 2 plays I am referring to, Harrison hitting Brees, and Pryor hitting Favre. Lets start with Harrison. Not only was Harrison late when he hit Brees, but he didnt even attempt to go lower. I dont understand what Harrison was thinking. If e put his shoulder into Brees’ lower back/hip area, no one would even be talking about it. But instead, he goes very high on Brees, and puts his forehead right into the back of Brees’ head/neck. How the F can anyone say that he didnt have bad intentions when he brought the hammer down on the back of Brees’ head???? Let me be clear, I am not saying I agree with GODell, but this is the letter of the law. That is a clear example of what GODell is trying to remove from the game, how stupid can you be???
For the Favre hit, I sit here and say it was a clear case of a dirty hit. Pryor hit Favre dead in the center of his chest, the momentum of Pryor going forward, and Favre going backwards cause the helmet to move up under his chin. I would be very surprised if he gets fined for that.
To recap, for the Steelers fans that will get on me, even though I was clear that I disagree with GODell. Harrison’s hit was as dirty as they come (in todays NFL) and Pryor’s hit didnt look like anything more than a football play….

This isn’t about a rules violation; it’s punishment for Harrison speaking out and for Tomlin calling out the league for making James their poster child for pulling up. Apparently Goodell plans to take a well-played, well-officiated game with no problems and create another sideshow out of vindictiveness. The sad thing is that I’m not surprised.

Harrison’s hit was late, it happens. He was flagged, that should be the end of it. It wasn’t intentional or dirty. I’m not sure why the league suddenly thinks a defender can immediately put on the air brakes at the last split second.
BTW, I’m a diehard Saints fan, not a Steeler fan.

This is really getting to be ridiculous, with the NFL supposedly looking out for the safety of players all of a sudden, while not paying for long-term health insurance after they can’t make money for the league anymore. And selling pics of these supposed illegal hits. GODell is acting like Steinbrenner and Jerry Jones and Al Davis towards the entire league. He may regret his incessant interference and micro-management on these issues.
Everyone has an opinion on if the hit was late, was it too dirty, etc. So what? Harrison will pay the fine, and who knows the Steelers may pay it for him in the background. And then he will line up and play the game like he plays it, and the chips will fall where they may. A suspension will set a really bad precedent that GODell doesn’t want to set.
And oh yeah, to the morons who are saying the Steelers fans are whining, so what the hell are YOU doing when talking about this issue? YOU are whining that Harrison is a thug and should be fined! You damn hypocrits.

You know what? The simple fact is; there’s a new sherrif in town and the expectations for hitting are different now . It’s just like the rest of us who work for a living. If you’re smart, you make the adjustment required from a new boss, the sale of our company, new workplace rules, changes in procedures, etc. Who doesn’t have to do this?
NFL players aren’t any different and simply need to do the same thing we all do everyday. Pretty simple in my book. Grow up, stop whining, be grateful to make so much money, and play the game.
