Childress won’t talk about decision to dump Moss

Now that the Vikings officially have cut receiver Randy Moss, coach Brad Childress has discussed the situation publicly.

But he hasn’t said anything.

Appearing on Sirius NFL Radio’s Movin’ the Chains with Pat Kirwan and Tim Ryan, Childress paid homage to his nickname when asked about Moss.

"[I’m] not going to get into anything with that, Pat,” Childress said. “You always make a decision based on your short-term interests here and your long-term interests. And I really do wish him the best as he moves forward.”

Asked by Ryan for insight onto how the decision was made, Childress referred to “an internal process and usually what we say is what’s in house stays in house here, Tim.”

We don’t expect many more details on Wednesday, when Childress and Favre meet with the media for midweek press conferences. And that’s unfortunate. One way or another, the Vikings need to get their version of the events out there. Otherwise, they could lose enough of the fan base to kill any shot at securing a new stadium in Minnesota.
