Jags do some roster tinkering

As the football-following world watches and waits for any clue suggesting a team may be interested in receiver Randy Moss, one of the potential clues is the advance clearing of a roster spot.

The Jaguars have made some moves on Tuesday, but the net result was not the creation of a spot that potentially could be filled by Moss.

The team announced that linebacker Eric Alexander has been released, and that veteran tackle Guy Whimper has been signed. The team also added receiver Clarence Denmark to the practice squad and released Lance Long.

Given the uncertainty regarding the teams that will claim Moss -- and the possibility that many will do so -- we doubt that anyone will clear a spot in advance. But we’ll still be watching for it.
