Dwight Freeney named AFC defensive player of the week

Colts defensive end Dwight Freeney had a big game Monday night against the Texans, and as a result he’s been recognized as the AFC’s defensive player of the week.

Freeney had two sacks and a game-clinching forced fumble in leading the Colts to a 30-17 win that gave Indianapolis a 5-2 record and sole possession of first place in the AFC South.

With five sacks through seven games, Freeney is on pace for his seventh double-digit sack season.

This is Freeney’s fifth AFC player of the week award.

That dude is awesome! That game would’ve been a lot more enjoyable to watch if Gruden could shut up for a few plays.

Exhibit A on how to execute the Spin Move. That was borderline poetic. The Texans LT was sitting there wondering where the hell Freeney just went as he took him deep to the outside of the pocket and then BOOM spun to the inside on a dime to make a B-Line to Schaub.

@5150cd – I’m pretty sure ESPN’s job description for the MNF crew is “make sure there’s never any more than .25 seconds of silence at a time” and “saying something retarded is better than saying nothing at all.”

Just think Ndamukong Suh did the same thing, as a rookie, from the DT position…

Freeney is an animal, and so is Suh. Did he take the NFC weekly honors?? He definitely deserved it.
