Career day for Favre leads Vikings back

Mired in one of the worst seasons of his 20-year career, Vikings quarterback Brett Favre has relied on a career day to bring his team back from a 14-point deficit.

Favre has thrown for a career-high 424 yards, with two touchdowns and two interceptions, in a 24-24 game that now heads to overtime.

A 25-yard touchdown pass to tight end Visanthe Shiancoe with 34 seconds to play provided the six points that pulled the game to 24-23. Ryan Longwell’s extra point knotted it up.

Who knows? Maybe Favre will finish with more than 500.

UPDATE: He fell short of 500, but another 22 on their first drive in overtime gave the Vikings the win, thanks to the right leg of Ryan Longwell and both legs of Adrian Peterson.
