Anne Frank, Helen Keller, and how to be washed up at 26 years old

On Sunday evening, Florio passed along the colorful words of his old buddy Dolphins linebacker Channing Crowder after Miami’s painful loss to the Ravens.

But we missed some of the most fun parts.  We especially like when Crowder crititized the officials for saying they didn’t see Ravens fullback Le’Ron McClain spit on him.

“They didn’t see Chad Henne get hit twice when he slid. Yeah, a little Stevie Wonder and Anne Frank,” Crowder said via the AP.

Umm . . . what Channing?

“Who was that? Is that the blind girl? Helen Keller . . . I don’t know who the f— Anne Frank is. I’m mad right now. F— it. I’m not as swift as I usually am.”

Ravens receiver Derrick Mason agrees below.  “[Crowder] is washed up and he’s young.  He might as well retire.”

How can anyone that has a college degree not know who Anne Frank is?

Crowder should just shut the hell up. The officiating was questionable again. They failed to protect henne when he slid on two separate plays yet they called roughing when a Raven gave him a perfectly legit hit in the pocket. This team has talent but they played horribly in every aspect of the game. Part of the credit should go to the Ravens but plenty of blame goes to the Dolphins players and coaches…10 players on punt coverage allowed a 1st down because the punter was capable of throwing a 20 yard pass. Ronnie Brown was running very well and then they stopped using him. Nobody bothered to cover Rice at all…on at least 5 plays. DBs dropped sure interceptions (one was 6-pts) The Dolphins are a dangerous team but they need to be consistent and they need to figure out how to call plays correctly for an entire game

i was watching that game yesterday and i was wondering about those 2 henne slides? i was under the impression that if a qb slides you cannot touch him. it seemed like both times he got hit pretty hard after he slid. anyone know that rule?

How can you about Anne Frank when you take up basket weaving 101 in college. With a grade point 1.5 to pass

  10. habibfromnewdehli says: Nov 8, 2010 11:07 AM

LMFAO, someone saying Mason is washed up. That’s hilarious.
Sounds like a Steeler fan is mad because now that Hines Ward isn’t being allowed to grab facemasks, he can’t get open on routes.
Derrick Mason might not be the biggest or the fastest, but he’s produced consistently throughout his career. If you look at the stats, for the last 10 years he’s in the top 5 in yards and receptions. And that’s playing with Kyle Boller, and Flacco in his first couple years. Imagine if he was with Peyton Manning his whole career like Reggie Wayne was.
I’m fine with everything that happened in this game. If the incident of getting spat on actually happened… Crowder is the one who made the effort to go back and get in McClain’s face. If you don’t want a guy to spit in your face, don’t put your face right up in his and butt helmets with him. Seems pretty simple to me.
It is pretty funny to hear Mason say… “don’t talk,” as Mason is a pretty big talker himself. But at least he can back it up with his play, and his team won.

I can’t even defend this guy any more. Mason is right – at least back up what you say with your play on the field.
Crowder is a poor linebacker, but I don’t know what he’s worse at – talking crap or making plays. Maybe he should stop both.
Best line was Mason’s: “I think they don’t even want him on the team, but they have no one else to play there so they HAVE to play him”.
    LOL, that is SO true.
Even Dobbins had a sack. Need a replacement for Crowder.

  25. Jose says: Nov 8, 2010 11:48 AM

It is kind of ridiculous to bring these guys’ “free educations” into the equation–it’s irrelevant. I think I might have learned about Anne Frank in junior high, but Helen Keller I think I learned who she was in a game of apples-to-apples. But neither did I learn at university. So when you make an asinine comment like that, that they should have learned this during their free-ride, it really just makes it sound like you are the uneducated jackass.

    Rosenthal,
Can you pull your foot out of your mouth and finish eating your crow? It looks like the Ravens weren’t quite ready to let the Dolphins run all over them? Care to reassess your opinion of the AFC North’s best team? Not sure why anyone needs you or Florio’s vote anyway, neither one of you ever played a snap.

  34. georgeanderson says: Nov 8, 2010 12:43 PM

Just another reason why Dolphins are an awful organization. They would much rather focus on stadium issues and nightclubs ,so they can jack up their ticket prices, claiming look at what we offer. Because it’s not about whats on the field, it’s about what you can do in the stadium, for this USFL minded owner and his front office staff.
This organization is bullied by their fans to keep the wrong players. Crowder should have been gone before the start of the season. He is only a mouth, he can’t cover TE’s, he can’t play sideline to sideline. He plays scared of getting hurt.
Dolphins will always have ’72 and Dan Marino.

Not that I like to nitpick, but this illustrates my point. People in their infinite wisdom don’t always think before they say something. The coaching staff could try to deal with the mentality of entitlement on this team, the feeling they are always victims. Sparano himself is crying that he has evidence for bad things done against his team. Boo. Hoo.
But the coaches don’t try. They let Channing Clam Chowder keep rattling on, and the coach threatens that he has proof of wrongdoings, and they just go out and lose on the field. The Ravens rolled them easily.
    4-4. Jaguars, Rams, Seahawks, Dolphins.

Channing Crowder should not be starting for any nfl team except maybe the bills. Just another loser that was all hype in college and hasn’t done shit in the NFL. This is a situation where a veteran needs to own his life behind closed doors but it wont happen b/c the dolphins have no character. And lets not even start with Henne. That guy is an emotionless loser who couldn’t lead a pee wee football team to victory.
