Nick Collins fined $50,000; no fine for Kurt Coleman

We said immediately following Packers safety Nick Collins’ helmet-to-helmet hit on Sunday that he could expect to hear from the NFL.

It didn’t take long.

Collins was fined $50,000, according to SI.com’s Peter King. There will be no suspension for Collins, which seemed to be on the table because of the severity and unnecessary nature of the hit. The Packers safety will have to be careful not to incur another similar fine or he’ll possibly miss a game.

While Collins lost money, Eagles defensive back Kurt Coleman will not be punished for his hit on Colts wideout Austin Collie.

“Because Collie’s helmet-to-helmet contact was a result of being driven toward a defender from a prior hit, there’s no fine for this action,” Jason La Canfora of NFL Network said.
