Hillis, Ngata, Ford named AFC players of the week

Browns running back Peyton Hillis, Ravens defensive tackle Haloti Ngata and Raiders return man Jacoby Ford have been honored as the AFC players of the week.

Hillis was named offensive player of the week after he had 184 rushing yards and two touchdowns as the Browns upset the Patriots, 34-14, on Sunday. The honor was Hillis’s first player of the week award, and the Browns’ first offensive player of the week award since quarterback Derek Anderson received the honor after Week 2 of the 2007 season.

Ngata was named defensive player of the week after he had four tackles and a sack in the Ravens’ 26-10 victory over the Dolphins. Ngata now has five sacks this season, a career high.

Ford returned the second half kickoff 94 yards for a touchdown and had 156 kickoff return yards overall in the Raiders’ win over the Chiefs. Ford also had a big game offensively and became just the second player in NFL history to have 140 receiving yards and 150 kick return yards in a game.
