Report: Tebow named in crazy lawsuit

The folks at TMZ tend to send out e-mails to the media whenever they have an “exclusive” story, including for example the fact that three Steelers players recently went to a restaurant in Cincinnati and purchased a bunch of ribs.  (Seriously, that was a story.)

Early Wednesday, TMZ sent out via e-mail an item regarding a lawsuit filed in Florida by a man who claims that he has been harassed by fans of former Gators and current Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow because the man has spoken out against Tebow.

It’s unclear why Tebow is personally named.  He’d have no liability whatsoever absent proof that he is encouraging people to take action against those who besmirch his name.

Meanwhile, the link supplied in the TMZ e-mail includes in the title “DO NOT PUBLISH,” and the story does not appear in the chronology of new items at Joe Buck’s favorite website.

But the e-mail was still sent, containing the text of the story, the title of the story, and no “DO NOT PUBLISH” disclaimer.

The amount of asinine lawsuits in this country is pathetic. I wish there was something that could be done to cut down on that

You write less interesting stories than the ribs one on a daily basis. Pot meet kettle.

The article was not that they purchased a bunch of ribs, it was how great they were to the staff and left an 80% tip.

and the point of this story other than to take your daily tebow shot is? seriously florio look at this story and then look back at what you used to publish when you first started this site.you have gone from real football stories and rumors to tmz style crap.pretty sad.

Be careful, TMZ hits it’s readers in the same way profootballtalk does…early scoops, updates, interesting tidbits on people in entertainment (which includes sports). Embrace it, b/c if people weren’t always trying to learn things first we wouldn’t come here or there, we’d just wait to see it when it was announced to the world with no angle. And that would be boring.

Lawyers have completely screwed everything up, always finding ways to break ground with crazy lawsuits.
    What a mess.

Lawsuits like this and websites like TMZ exist because media like YOU will cover anything. They are attention whores looking for their 15 minutes and you offer it to them.

Some people might say, “why did you publish it if they said don’t? That’s irresponsible.” But why would TMZ send out this information to a rumor mill website to not be published. It just doesn’t make sense, unless they want to use they excuse to whoever gets pissed the new got out that, “we told them not to publish.”

people sue people for the stupidest things and sometimes they get away with it. For example, what BOZO doesnt know that coffee is hot?????

Florio you have no right to make fun of what another site considers an “exclusive” story. Your pointless drivvle is 10 times more than that on a daily basis!! You provide no news at all, just speculation and rumors. Your the pot calling the kettle black!!

You forgot inaccurate information (retractions? pfffff!), heavily-opinionated content and a proclivity to start rumors that aren’t there. Also a tendency to target people/organizations based on their success.
TMZ and PFT should merge already. Same crap, different targets.

In fairness, mwcarolina, McD’s was keeping their coffee just under boiling temperature, which is irresponsible and dangerous. You don’t need to keep coffee at 200-something degrees.
In relation to this post, it seems a bit frivolous, but then again, how many of you would keep coming here if it wasn’t updated on a regular basis?

Interesting how my comment and link to the full real story didn’t get approved. This guy has filed for restraining orders against Tebow, Obama, & Jesus. He’s a crazy guy.
