Browns linebacker Benard taken to hospital for testing after collapse

Browns linebacker Marcus Benard spoke with reporters in the locker room as usual Thursday.  20 minutes later, Benard reportedly collapsed out while sitting down.  He fell off his chair before trainers attended to him, according to Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain-Dealer.  Benard never lost consciousness lying on the ground.

Browns spokesman Neal Gulkis tells PFT that Benard was taken to a local hospital for further testing.  He is stable and alert.

It’s not clear exactly what happened, but we’ll follow up when we know more.  Benard has 4.5 sacks this year and has been a key ingredient to an improving Browns defense.
