Goodell not motivated by “timeline” in making decision on Favre

While the NFL’s top security official met with Jenn Sterger in New York, Commissioner Roger Goodell was in Atlanta for Thursday’s Ravens-Falcons game.

Goodell said during a pregame sitdown with Rich Eisen on NFL Network that he hasn’t been briefed on today’s discussions with Sterger yet. Goodell will return to his New York office on Friday.

Sterger’s meeting would seem to indicate that the NFL’s investigation into the matter will conclude soon. But Goodell wouldn’t promise anything, saying he’s “never pushed by timelines . . . we will look at all the facts and make a smart decision.”

Goodell mentioned they want to talk to all the appropriate people in the case, but we have to imagine they have done so while waiting for Sterger to decide whether to talk.
