Chad Henne’s demotion was tough for the third-year player to swallow, but it should have gone down considerably easier for Chad Pennington. (Although the two Chads apparently had a tear-filled conversation after the news broke.)
The Palm Beach Post reports that Pennington’s salary will rise from $2.5 million to $5.75 million because he was named the starter. It was supposed to be an “unlikely to be earned incentive.” The Dolphins’ originally said Pennington’s re-signing was absolutely no threat to Henne.
Pennington, though, has a way to exceeding expectations. Bringing the Dolphins to the playoffs with their upcoming schedule might be his toughest test yet.

Wow, Parcells really did some job turning the Dolphins around. I wonder which will be the next franchise that he saves.
Chad Pennington has been an under-rated QB in this league for far too long.
Penny is a winner, doubt his arm strength ok, but you could never doubt this guys heart and tenacity even when he was with that pathetic franchise in New York!
I hope Penny tears it up.
Henne has been a disappointment so far. His class included Ryan and Flacco both of who are upcoming stars and Brian Brohm who is lost in the wilderness. Henne was thought to be a potentially very good QB and just has not put up to date. Year 3 is supposed to be the year for young qbs to make the jump. Henne just ain’t jumping.
that’s about how much money it would have cost for Moss. I’d still take Moss+Henne>Pennington. there better be some master plan, cause I’m not seeing it
Will Pennington win a third Comeback Player of the Year award?
This could be good for Henne in the long run. Pennington isn’t the big arm but he makes good decisions and wins football games. Henne could learn a lot from watching the other Chad until he gets hurt again.
Do YOU ALL know the current consecutive game losing streak Pennington has a starting quarterback?
If you did, you wouldn’t be so excited about Pennington.
PFT, maybe you want to look Pennington’s losing streak up. You all remember that the Dolphins lost all 3 of his starts last year (games 1 thru 3).

____________
His mighty consecutive losing streak of….3? He lost the 3 games in ’09, and won the 5 before that. I guess I don’t understand what your point is.
I’m still peeved and lost by this decision. But now I have to root for the OC to get canned!!!
Chad Pennington is a great qb
Sure he doesnt have great arm strength but hes one of the smartest qbs in the league and he has all the intangibles to win as a qb
most heart out of any player ive seen in the nfl.
i watched him for years when he was with the jets and i met him a few times and i was one of the few who actually liked the guy.
Im glad he gets to start over Henne, who is extremely overrated, Pennington might not be able to preform at the level he used to but the guy is a winner and hes one of the few in that shitty dolphins locker room that has leadership and knows how to win.
By week 12 he’ll be out for the season due to shoulder surgery.
