Pat McAfee will avoid prosecution

Colts punter Pat McAfee won’t avoid a lifetime of snide jokes for his creative public intoxication arrest, but he will avoid prosecution.

The Indianapolis Star says McAfee signed a diversion agreement Friday, which is typical in these cases.

McAfee “was a first-time offender and was treated like anyone else,” according to Mark Correll of the Marion County prosecutor’s office.

The second-year player, who is back on the team after a one-game suspension, has to pay a fee of $298, attend the NFL’s alcohol education program, and perform eight hours of community service. Perhaps he can teach a canal swimming program at the local YMCA for underprivileged youths.
