Signs point towards Kerry Collins starting against Dolphins

Titans coach Jeff Fisher says Vince Young will be a “gametime decision” on Sunday against the Dolphins, but Fisher spoke louder with the practice time he handed out on Friday.

Kerry Collins took the majority of the first team reps and got some extra practice time in with Randy Moss after the session.

“[Vince] took half the reps [Thursday] and we just backed him down today,” Fisher said.

Young is recovering from an ankle injury, and you get the sense from Fisher that he’s more than happy to start Collins until Young is 100%.  Young is officially listed as questionable.  The Titans are as healthy as they’ve been all year, with defensive tackle Tony Brown probable.  Kenny Britt is out.

Collins is going to need to be at his best against a hungry Dolphins team, that boasts a fired up new starter in Chad Pennington.

  1. When you can plug into your lineup the QB-WR combo that powered the Raiders to an 5-11 record in 2004, that’s a move you have to make.

Funny, even if it was a 4-12 record in 2005.

But seriously? Collins threw for over 3,700 yards that year. Moss had over 1,000 with 8 touchdowns and a 16.8 YPC average. Groin injury and all.

Titans would probably take something that resembled that combo on Sunday. (Except for the part where Collins got sacked about 40 times that year).

  3. Nice! I hope to God that Kerry gets the start cuz when Tennessee beats Maimi, Kerry will officially be the 2nd QB to defeat all 32 teams! The only one he aint beat as a starter is Miami. (Tennessee won last year against Miami, but Vince was starting and Kerry didnt get credit for the win.)

Go Kerry Collins! Win and then you can retire as a Titan who beat all 32 teams!!!!

  4. would of made an interesting story, first time two high school grads from the same highschool play against each other.

look it up: Chad Henne, Kerry Collins
