Mike Florio’s SNF Extra chat: Second half

Below is a transcript of Mike Florio’s chat in Sunday Night Football Extra for Week 10’s Patriots-Steelers game. You can access his live chat every week here: nbcsports.com/snfextra

10:29
PFTonSNF: Amazing the Patriots have had the better pass rush tonight. Steelers getting nothing done up front.

10:29
AskSNF: why does brady have all this time to throw??? crazy
PFTonSNF: Lot’s of max protect and quick throws.

10:30
PFTonSNF:As well as the Patriots have played, this game is long from over. Patriots defense gives up yards in bunches.

10:30
AskSNF: Who is going to win the NFC West?
PFTonSNF: Have to go with the Seahawks at this point. 3-1 in division. Rams can’t win on road. Can 49ers rally? Doubt it.

10:33
PFTonSNF:Protection problems is half Steelers OL, half Ben. But if they can’t protect against Pats, big problem long-term.

10:34
AskSNF: can the raiders win the west
PFTonSNF: Tied for first. Tough schedule coming up but they have a decent shot. Watch out for Bolts.

10:34
PFTonSNF:AFC is too deep. Jaguars secondary is too thin.

10:39
AskSNF: Why did the Steelers defense wait an extra 10 minutes before they came out after the half?
PFTonSNF: That was a BIG stop. Three and out and no time off the clock. Long way to go here.

10:42
AskSNF: How do the browns beat the Patriots but the steelers are losing to the patriots?
PFTonSNF: That’s why we all love the NFL. (And Pats respond very well to losses and made huge mistakes last year.)

10:42
AskSNF: Would you say Ben looks comfortable in the pocket?
PFTonSNF: He looks comfortable handing off.

10:45
PFTonSNF: Mike Wallace is a bad man.

10:45
PFTonSNF: Patriots shut down Steelers inside 10 last time. Would be huge win for them if they do it again.

10:46
AskSNF: Ask Mike Florio is chilly gone? 1 to 10 (before Packers game)
PFTonSNF: Owner said no, said let’s call it a 2.

10:47
PFTonSNF: Patriots blitz six and Ben has to get rid of it too quick.

10:48
PFTonSNF: Oh my. Jeff Reed chunked it. Paper towel dispensers in Pittsburgh better watch out tonight.

10:51
AskSNF: What happened on that kick?
PFTonSNF: Jeff Reed happened.

10:52
PFTonSNF: Welker having his best game of the year. 8 for 89.

10:57
AskSNF: Hey Mike, I am surprised Brady’s hair did not slow him down on the TD run!
PFTonSNF: He’s very good at those when teams don’t cover the center. What a statement game.

10:59
AskSNF: Waffle House or IHOP?
PFTonSNF: Can’t beat Waffle House

11:01
AskSNF: Its over
PFTonSNF: Agreed, although you still keep watching for our snappy analysis.

11:02
PFTonSNF: Thanks! And the schedule just get better as the season goes on.

11:02
PFTonSNF: Many reasons for Steelers to be concerned about this one. Biggest: Patriots have been way more physical. Really.

11:03
PFTonSNF: Heath Miller - 2nd TE in Steelers history to reach 3,000 yards.

11:04
AskSNF: Is Sidney Rice playing next week?
PFTonSNF: It’s up to him. Folks thought he’d be ready this week. I think there’s a good chance.

11:07
AskSNF: It’s never over until it’s over!
PFTonSNF: Good point.

11:07
AskSNF: actually I keep watching because I can’t get anything else on my laptop here at work!
PFTonSNF: Thanks for spending work with us.

11:10
AskSNF: Is this a game again?
PFTonSNF: Steelers need a stop and then yes.

11:12
AskSNF: Who do you like tomorrow night?
PFTonSNF: Think the Eagles will take it to Washington and get in a first place tie.

11:13
AskSNF: Do the Bears really have a shot to win the NFC North?
PFTonSNF: Their schedule will make it VERY tough. I doubt it.

11:13
AskSNF: Am i the only one that thinks its awesome when steam comes off bald players heads?
PFTonSNF: Nope.

11:14
PFTonSNF: Steelers need a stop right now. They really needed it a few plays ago. Tick, tick, tick.

11:15
AskSNF: Is Tom Brady the new Wayne Gretzky?
PFTonSNF: Not sure what that means but ... yes.

11:18
AskSNF: With how dominating the Browns offensive line has been do you think Joe Thomas should be a MVP canidate?
PFTonSNF: That’s a stretch.

11:19
AskSNF: is now the time to bring in hines ward for a deep threat to open up the field more? even though you risk injury?
PFTonSNF: Not worth it. Seems like he has a head injury.

11:22
AskSNF: Game set match
PFTonSNF: Agreed. Just as it was getting interesting. Steelers were playing with no margin for error.

11:24
AskSNF: How about them cowboys! Do you think it’s feasible that we can get a wild card position? Quote me, the Eagles will lose on Monday
PFTonSNF: Love the optimism ... but you are nuts.

11:25
PFTonSNF: Wasn’t sure the Patriots had this kind of performance in them. Still have the Colts, Jets, Dolphins, Packers left on schedule.

11:31
AskSNF: do the jets have jets a cause for optimism in showing that they can win in tough situations, or are they showing crack that will cost them
PFTonSNF: Today they played very well. The Lions game was not a good sign but overall it should be encouraging.

11:32
AskSNF: what do you think the odds are of the Chargers winning the AFC west?
PFTonSNF: I’d say one in two. They have the best schedule of the three teams left.

11:33
AskSNF: how about an onside kick for pittsburgh now?
PFTonSNF: Almost worked. Patriots just need a few first downs here. A field goal would be a bonus.

11:34
AskSNF: The Pats seem to keep rolling regardless of the interchangable parts they have ever year-do you think thats mostly due to Tom Brady?
PFTonSNF: Bingo. Coaching staff helps too but its mostly Brady of course. Same thing in Indy.

11:36
PFTonSNF: Why would the Steelers take a timeout on first down and not second down?

11:41
AskSNF: OK Mike, game is winding down now, Don’t forget the shout out to Greg in Wisconsin...
PFTonSNF: Shout.

11:51
AskSNF: Could someone kick Florio? He seems to be asleep again.
PFTonSNF: Thanks for that. But didn’t have to kick there.

11:51
AskSNF: Why has Polumolu been so quiet today? is it because of all the play action?
PFTonSNF: Really think the Patriots gameplanned to get him out of the mix.

11:52
AskSNF: is aaron hernendez playing?
PFTonSNF: Yes, but he’s been on the sideline a lot with Crumpler and Gronkowski as the two tight ends.

11:52
AskSNF: What do you think is hapenning late with the Patriots defense?
PFTonSNF: Perhaps let up a bit, Steelers figured them out. Got less aggressive. Just trying to hold on.

11:53
AskSNF: @MikeFlorio Are the Giants in trouble come 2nd half of the season?
PFTonSNF: That was a fluke, let-down game. they are a good team.

11:58
AskSNF: Why is it that aaron hernandez is behind Crumpler and Gronkowzki?
PFTonSNF: Think they just wanted to go with a power pacakage.

11:59
PFTonSNF: Well, that was drawn out. Thanks for hanging around guys. Giants-Eagles next week. See you all then.
