Giants fill their hole at wide receiver

With Steve Smith out indefinitely, Ramses Barden likely out for the season, and Victor Cruz long gone, the Giants have turned to a familiar face to fill out their receiver corps.

Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger reports the Giants have brought back wideout Derek Hagan on a one-year contract.

Hagan caught eight passes for the team a year ago and should mostly help on special teams.

UPDATE: The team placed him Barden on injured reserve.

Glad to see. He was on the cusp of making the team this year, but just missed the final cut. For a team that so desperately needs immediate help (at both WR and ST) this should be a good signing.
Now can they PLEASE cut Darius Reynaud?!?

Too bad Victor Cruz is on IR because everything else worked out for him to get a shot. I was hoping to see more of that guy.

Yes, it appears Barden is on IR.

Still is unclear from the article. Is Hagan on IR too? 🙂

It ain’t that difficult. Ramses Barden is on IR. There are other websites that provide NFL information as well. I would HOPE that the Giants would be smart enough to make sure a player is medically cleared to play BEFORE signing him (to avoid having to put him on IR the same day).
