"This guy is delusional. The Browns beat NE soundly. The Jets beat the Browns. Oh yeah, The Jets beat NE too. NE is good, but from a ranking standpoint, Jets beat em handily."

Hmmm, that was a long time ago and the game was in NY. The Pats were starting a bunch of rookies on defense and playing a different type of offense. The Patriots have won road games in Baltimore, San Diego, and Pittsburgh. But it really doesn't matter about these lists right now. If the Patriots beat Indy, Green Bay, and the Jets (all home games), this discussion will be moot and we will know that they will win the division and get the bye. That's all that matters.

Ok, so the Bucs have the best young QB in football, some real talent at WR and RB, an opportunistic defense... and of course according to Florio, they won't win 7 games for 3 seasons (I guess they need to go winless for the next 2 and a half seasons to fulfill that idiotic prediction)... and on top of that, they have won twice as many games as they have lost and came within a yard of beating the #1 team in the Falcons... which was prabably a better performance than the #4 Ravens had and yet they're at #18?

Hilarious! Especially considering that they beat the #14 team despite their QB playing for the first time in 3 weeks and coming off an injury that only affected his abililty to throw the ball.

And in the meantime, this team has greatly improved since week 1 with rookie LeGarrette Blount emerging as a powerhouse on the ground the last 3 games.

This Buc team is the youngest in the league and unlike the veteran laden teams, instead of getting worse throughout the year (because vets tend to breakdown physically), this team will continue to improve as they adjust to the speed of the game, gain experience, learn techniques, and learn the playbooks. This #18 Bucs team will be far better than the one that started the season (they already are) and will continue to improve.

All Roddy White did was knock the idiot defender's arm and hand away from him before the dunderhead could hold him, push him or otherwise interfere with his route. White can't help the fact that the DB can't stay on his feet and was trying to grab him to begin with. White made a great play and "got away" with nothing more than saving the stumbling, bumbling, falling DB from his own illegal contact penalty. Give it a rest....

I would say the Eagles and Packers are playing the best football in the NFC right now.
The underrated Packers defense is arguably the best defense in the league (given up the fewest points so far). And the offense is starting to click - they're easily one of the best offensive teams in the NFL when healthy (even w/o grant). They're what you would call a 'complete' team.
All those AFC teams have some great strentghs, but are not all-around good teams.

The Jets should count their lucky stars that they're not 5-4 right now. Their offense just isn't that good. The Pats are inconsistent. The Falcons have not beat anyone convincingly all season long (except for Arizona). They've won games, but it's hard to say they've been the better team in a lot of their wins.

I guess you can make arguments for any team. But I can't wait to see the Packers-Falcons game in 2 weeks. It'll prove to be a big power-changer in the NFC>

"A list that has the Patriots at less than Number One after a thorough beating of the worldwide favorite from last week, is a list you can use for toilet paper.

To have the Jets -who barely eeked a wins two weeks in a row against such powerhouses as the Cleveland Browns – ranked higher than New England is demeaning to your reputation as a credible (gulp) football writer."

All teams have injury problems. Green Bay and Indy are winning with serious injury problems. Pittsburgh (and other teams) is no worse off than them...so stifle it on the injury excuses. No one should ever bring up injuries when discussing power rankings ... everyone has to over come them so I just don't want to hear about it.

Teams being lucky????? Good teams find a way to win . Tell me a team that's won a super bowl without getting lucky a few times during that season

2. New York Jets (No.3; 7-2): It’s better to be lucky than good. But good tends to last a little longer.

This should be the line for the Falcons. In at least four of their games they got incredibly lucky right at the end to win. Roddy White's OPI not being called is just one example.

There is no way Floria will make the bet of the Bucs making the playoffs he will shave his head. According to him, they should not win another game until about 2013. 6 wins in 3 years. At least people don't consider him an "expert", even though they might as well if they consider Peter King an "expert". No love for the Bucs ever. If there has ever been a team get its act together, this is it. Too bad the Cowboys are having a bad season or we would hear about them more?

i have to post again...

Looks like you believe in the Raiders too...they have lost to tenn, cardinals, and san fran...and barely beat the rams and chargers...plus lost to the texans...so you are basing your rankings on the fact they beat the broncos (#26), seahawks (#20), and chiefs (#15) the last 3 weeks...after losing to san fran (#24)...The Bucs last four games...Rams (#21), Cardinals (#28), Atl (#1), Car (#)...only lost to the #1 team...barely.

My point is both teams seem to be beating below 500 teams, yet you have Oakland in the top 10 and you will only believe the Bucs are good when they beat a good team and won't put them any higher...Everyone talks about beating the teams you are suppose to beat...well Oakland hasn't done that...they lost to teams they should've beat. The Bucs are beating teams nobody said they should beat and nearly beating the best in the league...even if I wasn't a bucs fan I would argue your logic is terrible in this case.

You seem to be giving Cleveland credit for taking teams to the wire and ranking them pretty high even though they have only won 3 games. When other teams like the Bucs you give no credit to...they did come 1 yard from taking a late lead against Atl, which may have won the game for them.

You do know that Atl barely beat san fran, got beat by pit, got stomped by philly, and barely beat cincy...and barely beat the bucs....YET you "believe" they are the #1 team and will only believe the bucs are higher than #18 when they beat someone you deam worthy. This makes no sense to me.

You do know that Atl barely beat san fran, got beat by pit, got stomped by philly, and barely beat cincy…and barely beat the bucs….YET you “believe” they are the #1 team and will only believe the bucs are higher than #18 when they beat someone you deam worthy. This makes no sense to me.

To those who have pointed out that the Browns just beat the Patriots, of course they did. The fact that New England just completely thrashed the world’s favorite team of the week, the Steelers, ought to show you that Cleveland was a mere brain fart on New England’s part. The Browns are what they are.</i>

The Steelers were injury plagued...and the Patriots were feeling extreme angst at their thrashing at the hands of my Brownies. And it wasnt just a lucky thrashing either. This a week after an equally surprising and thorough defeat of the Saints.

Yes, the Browns are what they are. A damn fine football team just coming into their own.

You, on the other hand, are a moron.

A list that has the Patriots at less than Number One after a thorough beating of the worldwide favorite from last week, is a list you can use for toilet paper.

To have the Jets -who barely eeked a wins two weeks in a row against such powerhouses as the Cleveland Browns – ranked higher than New England is demeaning to your reputation as a credible (gulp) football writer.
----------------------------------

Patriots had one good game. they are still overrated. Brady watched from the sideline SDs kicker to see if he goes to over time, you were beat by the Browns and jets and needed two punts in over time to beat the Ravens at HOME.

You are ahead of the Steelers, that should be good enough for now.

I think the Packers and the Falcons are too high. Both are suspect. Philly should be higher.

When the Bucs beat the best team that ever existed, in this universe of the next, in bare feet and with blindfolds, then, and only then, will I start to maybe begin to think about believing.

Florio, I apprehend you for the churlish knave of a bucket carrier you are. Only a child would be so childish, and since you're a stubble beard, there can be only one reason for your stick-in-the-eye journalistic methods: provoke more people, in this case Bucs fans, to register so they can come on and hurl brown matter in your direction. You have succeeded. I can see the ad execs at NBC patting your coifed little head now. Here is a free bit of marketing advice. If the Bucs make the playoffs, shave your head. Just think of the ratings!

The browns team that the jets squeaked by this past Sunday beat the crap out of the pats by 20 points and it wasn't that close. Also, the Jets beat the Pats by 2 touchdowns in a game that wasn't that close either.

@macjacmccoy The Eagles were definitely impressive... But it was just the Redskins. I'd say home field advantage would decide the game between the Falcons and Eagles... The Falcons are nigh on unbeatable at home, but they sure didn't look good @ Philly. Atlanta has the better record so they'd get the home field, therefore, Falcons on top. For now.

As a Falcons fan it's nice to see them at #1, but it makes me nervous... Especially going into St Louis where the Rams have been pretty good at home, whereas the Falcons have just been okay on the road.... We'll see.

@richm2256 When putting down the Jets for only squeaking by the Browns it helps to remember a few facts:
1 - They've played some pretty tough teams like the Falcons, Bucs, and Ravens to close games
2 - They beat the Saints
3 - They beat the PATRIOTS WHO YOU'RE CLAIMING SHOULD BE HIGHER THAN THE JETS.... Not just a fluke win but a beatdown!
