The Jets have opened up a roster spot in advance of Sunday’s game against the Texans.

Gone is defensive tackle Jarron Gilbert, a 2009 third-round pick of the Bears who was signed to the Jets’ practice squad on September 7 and added to the active roster on October 27.

With cornerback Dwight Lowery out due to a concussion and cornerback Marquice Cole missing practice on Wednesday and Thursday with a hamstring injury, look for the Jets to add another defensive back.

Alternatively, they could add a wideout, if Jerricho Cotchery can’t play due to a groin injury.
