Kevin Curtis works out for three teams, eyes return next week

large_kcurtis

Reports emerged earlier today that veteran receiver Kevin Curtis recently worked out for the Lions.  Per a league source, Curtis also worked out this week for the Giants and Seahawks.  More workouts are possible in the coming days.

As it currently stands, Curtis hopes to pick his next team by Tuesday, November 23, so that he may join his new team for practice by Wednesday, November 24, and playing in Week 12.

Curtis was in the process of overcoming a knee injury when he learned that he had testicular cancer.  Surgery was successful, and he opted against radiation therapy so that he could return to the NFL.  (That ranks right up there with, and possibly trumps, Ronnie Lott having a piece of his pinkie removed.)

Only three years ago, Curtis caught 77 passes for 1,110 yards and six touchdowns in his first season with the Eagles.  Injuries greatly limited his availability in 2008 and 2009.

Come on, RAMS! Sign this guy! He’s been here before. Bradford and Curtis will work, no question! SIGN HIM! NOW!

His best opportunity for playing time is probably with the Lions. The Lions don’t have a no. 3 WR (Bryant Johnson doesn’t qualify), don’t have a no. 4 WR (for whatever reason, Derrick Williams is never on the field), and the no. 5 WR (Stefan Logan) is strictly a returner.

Maybe he can sign with the Pats so they can have another white wide receiver.

I’m surprised that the Browns aren’t pursuing him seeing how their receivers suck and Heckert is the Brown’s GM.

Godspeed, White Lightning. The Eagles were lucky to have you when they did.

I would think the Skins would want him, since they don’t even have a #1 receiver.

    Welcome back Mr. Curtis.

i am surprised the Browns aren’t looking at this guy . we have arguably the worst receivers in the league . it was even more evident in the OT Loss to the Jets . only two caught passes . pathetic yet Holmgren states that the receivers are more than okay ??? note to the walrus ..they aren’t okay . Robo is a total BUST!

Please god i hope he goes to the lions. Bryant johnson is inhumanly bad. we need a decent no. 3 receiver. having him out there in shotgun is pointless.

    OOPS! My mistake, Mr. Florio.

WTF is with guys like you, you run around looking for a chance to play the race card?

Buddy, you’re on the fast track to nowhere with that attitude.

I hope he’s still sportin’ that killer ‘stache.

He obviously wants to join Dallas Cowboys America’s Team like everyone else does. But we’re good at that position.

I am shocked to not see the Jacksonville Jaguars not mentioned as team wanting to give this reciever at least a workout! Mike Sims-Walker is nursing an ankle. Other than Mike Thomas, they don’t have anybody worth cutting a game check for (at that position)! They claimed Jason Hill off waivers from Detroit but if you get cut from Detroit, you’ve got to be pretty bad, right? I know its not because they’re scared off by the knee injury. Just look at how Kampman, who was coming off a torn ACL, was pretty much their only bright spot on defense until he blew out his other knee in practice! Hopefully the Jags will step in being that the AFC south division is so tight, the AFC wildcard slots are just as tight and each game from here on is going to carry the same importance as a ployoff game. Lose and you can pretty much “forgetaboutit”!

“Maybe he can sign with the Pats so they can have another white wide receiver.”

Is that a new Rooney Rule, or something?

Send him to Minnesota. Favre needs someone who can catch the ball.

  17. scrapdawg12 says: Nov 20, 2010 11:18 AM

Any team in the hunt, that could use a WR is where Curtis should go. I believe he’s got something left in the tank. Teams like the Patriots, Colts, Raiders, Chiefs, Chargers, Bears, Falcons, Saints, Seahawks, 49ers, should all be in the hunt for his services. I know the Rams makes sense but why come back to a team that is rebuilding? Rams are better off losing rather than winning.

  18. jluttrell32 says: Nov 20, 2010 12:20 PM

LAEaglefan-Favre has plenty of elite and not so elite players to catch the ball he guns from the pocket every sunday. It just so happens they play for the other teams D!

Abninf-You said everyone wants to come play for the Big D, and also that “The Boys” were Already good at that position, well what position is that? Just wondering cause ya’ll play like a bunch of school girls! So position please, and be clean this is a family oriented site

I still wear my #80 Curtis Eagles jersey with pride. Met him once at an autograph signing in the Philly area and he was the nicest guy you’d ever want to meet.
