San Diego’s bye week didn’t slow down Philip Rivers and the Chargers passing game.
Even with Antonio Gates still out and Vincent Jackson on the roster exempt list, Rivers threw for 138 yards and two touchdowns in the first half against the Broncos on Monday night to help build a 21-7 lead.
Patrick Crayton had two catches of 40 yards or more in the half. One was a screen pass in which Crayton made Brian Dawkins whiff on the way to a long score. (Crayton had his wrist looked at after the touchdown and is questionable to return.)
Denver started the game strong with an opening drive touchdown, but their defense continues to be leaky this year. At 3-6, you could make the case the Broncos are still alive in the AFC West if they somehow came back to win Monday night..
It’s looking a lot more likely that the Chargers will reach .500 for the first time since they were 2-2.
