Ellis Hobbs will miss the rest of the season

The scary hit that knocked Eagles cornerback Ellis Hobbs out of Sunday night’s game will knock him out for the season.

CSNPhilly’s Derrick Gunn reports Hobbs will not return, although Eagles coach Andy Reid wasn’t as forthcoming.

“He does have a disc injury in there — not the same disc that he had before,” head coach Andy Reid said. “We’re just going to take our time and further evaluate it and see how he does.”

Hobbs has previously undergone neck surgery before. Reid said Hobbs was upset the team wouldn’t let him walk off the field under his own power. The situation is understandably very frustrating for Hobbs; we wish him all the best in his recovery.

  1. Ellis Hobbs out of Sunday night’s game will knock him out for the season… Probably more like the rest of his career.

  2. I am sorry for Hobbs; I hope he recovers.

Not the end of the world for the Eagles, though, since Patterson took over his starting spot last week.

  3. Good return guy. Low end CB. Good guy, from the little tidbits we’re given (not like I’ve gone out for a beer with him or anything). Good to see he’s ok.

  4. and lost amid all of this is the ridiculous fact that in this azz-backwards NFL that was somehow a “legal” hit yet when the wind blows too hard in the direction of a QB the yellow flags fly!

  5. It’s unfortunate that he was injured in such a fashion. No one wants to see people injured but such is the nature of the NFL. It’s a physical game and the players that play usually LOVE playing.

    Fire Goodell.

    Evidently Karma can’t shoot straight.

It was Vick that needed a helmet-to-helmet, not Hobbs.

That’s pretty sad that you are wishing injury on someone. Get over it already.
