A report surfaced by ESPN’s Chris Mortensen before Sunday’s action that the Cowboys remained optimistic that quarterback Tony Romo could return this season.
Owner Jerry Jones confirmed that Romo threw some passes before Dallas’ second straight win, but said x-rays on his broken clavicle weren’t necessary at this point. Jones would like to see Romo return so the team can finish the season strong.
“When I think of Tony, I think of it more as when he’s ready, that type of thing, more than I think about how well [Jon] Kitna’s played,” Jones said.
ESPNDallas.com’s Tim McMahon reports Romo will be out at least three more weeks, which means the earliest he could return is Week Fifteen against the Redskins. It doesn’t seem to make a lot of sense to play Romo this year with the Cowboys out of playoff contention (yes, they remain out of contention at 3-7), but there are a lot of things that happen in Dallas that sometimes don’t make much sense.
