T.O. calls Revis an “average” cornerback

It’s time for part II of Darrelle Revis’ slouch tour.

When Revis called Randy Moss and Terrell Owens a pair of “slouches” in January, it was inevitable that the wide receivers would take offense and want payback.   Randy Moss scored a touchdown on Revis in September (two teams) ago, and now Owens wants his turn.

Just an average corner to me,” Owens said via Bengals.com.   “Everybody has assessed his abilities as far as what he did last year, shutdown corner, this and that. He did very well last year.”

Owens went on to say truly great cornerbacks do it year after year.  It’s a fair point to make, with Revis’ injury-plagued season certainly hurting him this year.

“I think he did it one year, and everybody made a lot of hoopla about it. I think, you know, he started feeling himself, then he wanted to come out and say that I’m a slouch,” Owens said.

T.O. even took a shot at Revis on Twitter when Moss scored on him two months ago, so this has been an issue that has been on his mind for a while.

Bengals-Jets isn’t the greatest Thanksgiving nightcap on paper, but this matchup should make a lot more fun to watch.

I am going against the grain and agree with TO. Revis had one good year.

  4. iamalwayscorrect says: Nov 23, 2010 5:49 PM

Time for the drunk, arrogant, unemployed, uneducated, and mentally challenged losers (Jets fans) to come here now and praise MEvis and make old, played out, and boring bashes against T.O. and the Bengals.
    Predictable….oh so predictable

  5. igottz5onit says: Nov 23, 2010 5:51 PM

T.O. just always wants people to pay attention to him, even when his team has gone into obscurity for the season.

  6. neverend1 says: Nov 23, 2010 5:53 PM

The jets uncharacteristically gave revis help most of the time against moss and andre johnson both this year and last year.

  7. revolution22 says: Nov 23, 2010 5:53 PM

I hope T.O. doesn’t catch one darn ball. I hope #24 blankets him all day.

And tomorrows headline “T.O. said (insert anything that comes out of T.O’s mouth) … Do you guys ever get sick of making something out of nothing when it comes to this guy?

I’m calling for a Bengals upset of the Jets on Thanksgiving!

    Who’s with me?

T.O. calls Revis an “average” cornerback

    ***********************

Revis responds that T.O. is “in the top 98%” of all wide receivers in the NFL today.

He’s right. T.O. and Revis have been dominate athletes in the league for a long, long time. Revis is a damn good corner, but he has no place calling a potential hall of famer a slouch. Sure, both Moss and Owens have lost a step in their old age, so even if Revis could stop them, it doesn’t mean THAT much. If he had to face either of those guys in their prime, guarantee he’d get burned. When all is said and done, I suspect Moss and Owens will leave a far greater legacy behind than Revis.

TO translation: “I need even more attention, so I’ll dis a great player to get it, cause Lordy knows I can’t do it on the field against him.”
This from a Pats fan, and I hope TO beats him like a rented mule.

LOL…Finally someone tells it like it is…Yes Revis had good yr last season…good, not great…BUT Revis is just another example of jet off season hype…alot of talk and false bravado.

Lets see him do it year after year …AND in big games…He actually looked pretty pedestrian in AFC Champ game vs colts….Not to mention his 4 whiffs on tackles in that game alone.

Now that jets cannot run like last season…and defense needs to spend a little time on field…they’re not anywhere near what they build themselves up to be.

TO getting smart late in his career.

For Once i think T.O has made two decent comments in a row. First was the media conference after the Bengals lost to the Bills and now this. Maybe he’s hired a new assistant or something. Not bad T.O not Bad.

Oh, and by the way, SHEvis is the most overrated corner in the game. I wouldn’t blame him so much for shutting down Andre Johnson last week as i would a horribly called Offensive Scheme by the Texans. Well at least Adrian Foster gave me 22 points in Fantasy league WOOT!!!!

  15. moolah954 says: Nov 23, 2010 6:22 PM

sez the guy on the 2-6 team ….. its funny the only time people agree with T.O is when he is talking about the jets but then again there are so much people that dont like the fact that there a 2 loss team at this point…. i dont know if people are just haters or only see in scratched aqua and orange glasses… i guess when you put up 100 yrds and 2 touchdowns and still lose you need some motivation right???

Owens is a much better football player than Revis is this year.

I never understood getting your foes pumped up but whatever works I guess.

  18. sexyrexys says: Nov 23, 2010 6:49 PM

You are all insane, Revis is back at it again on a 8-2 team ontop of the AFC. We will see thursday why he and they are the best in the league. ;)

  19. roxtar10 says: Nov 23, 2010 6:49 PM

T.O. is right on this one – especially this year, but HOLY CRAP!!!! Shut up and just play the game!!!
Enough already with the idea you need to have your name in the media this week, that your Twitter posts are at all useful to your TEAM (you remember the concept of team, right?) winning, or that we need to hear what you and Ocho think each day. JUST PLAY!!!! Win some games. Beat the corner each play – I don’t need to hear you say it — I’ll see it!

WEEK 6 Vs BILLS (Terrell Owens)

    3 Receptions – 13 Yards – 0 TD’s

WEEK 13 Vs BILLS (Terrell Owens)

    3 Receptions – 31 Yards – 0 TD’s

    …and here’s why Revis called T.O. a slouch

keep hating on the jets everyone. you’ve been doing it since mini-camp. the jets will just keep on winning football games.

8-2 (Leading the league in FCKING wins!)

  22. skleech22 says: Nov 23, 2010 7:03 PM

Revis got beaten BADLY by Kevin Walters last week but like the Jets luck this year the sun was in his eyes and he dropped it!!!!

  23. hooterdawg says: Nov 23, 2010 7:03 PM

What is clear is that there are far more moronic Patsie fans on this site than Jet fans. Patsies keep trying to get a reaction from Jet fans, but Jet fans are probably doing something more important in their careers at work than coming online to mix it up with morons.

we’ve actually al been hating on them since you got a fat coach and a hollywood quarterback. i’m sure the jets are happy they don’t have to play the packers every week.

  25. dansnydersux says: Nov 23, 2010 7:51 PM

That’s a compliment, coming from an average wide receiver.

Really you Dumb F’ Reggie wayne caught one ball in that AFC title game ,who do you think covered him the whole game …and the 4 whiffed tackles ,so making s–t up as you go,fyi he didnt miss one tackle you bumbling idiot…you just made yourself look dumber than TO talking crap about a player on a team that shut him down twice last year and is on a 2-8 team now …way to go you shouldn’t be proud .

  27. nyjetsholdupsbtrophyin2010 says: Nov 23, 2010 7:58 PM

No ..he just saying all this crap so Half you Morons will watch his stupid tv show ,has to stir contraversie to get anyone to watch ,by the way Revis has taken the megatron Johnson and Andre Johnson completely out of the game these last 2 of 3 games ……….STFUP already you cry baby haters ….

  28. tiffpats4eva says: Nov 23, 2010 9:24 PM

You spell like a typical Jets’ fan.

  29. Ralphie says: Nov 23, 2010 9:31 PM

TO’s absolutely correct. Revis always has disguised safety help over the middle. Revis can’t hold TO’s fkin jockstrap. Bevis will never even have half the career that TO’s put up.

  30. brownsclown says: Nov 23, 2010 10:05 PM

From what I can see the only ‘average’ player on the Jets is Braylon Edwards. He averages more drops and penalties per game than most mediocre players.

  31. mistrezzrachael says: Nov 24, 2010 6:38 AM

    @nyjetsholdupsbtrophyin2010

When we’re talking about dumb…guess you never learned how to spell did you?

YES, indeed, Revis had 4 whiffs on tackles in AFC Champ game…and YES, looked very pedestrian….Now , please go back to mommy and get changed will you?

jet fans wonder why THEY are laughingstock of entire NFL…Maybe because they are loud, dumb, …and all the other things that come from losing 42 straight years….

Fear not ny..March is coming, and thats where jets win SB every single year.

  32. scontis says: Nov 24, 2010 7:37 AM

You have to admit, no matter who your favorite team is, that the jets are having a grea year. But PLEASE, Revis is NOT a superstar corner. He can’t be mentioned in the same sentence as the Baileys’ and Ty Laws for at least 5 more years. He’s not great tis year by any stretch of the imagination, but maybe training camp would have helped insteadof greed.
