A pair of NFC North standouts have been honored as the NFC offensive and defensive players of the week.
Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings was named offensive player of the week after his seven-catch, 152-yard, three-touchdown game in the Packers’ coach-killing win at Minnesota. Jennings broke open what had been a close, low-scoring game with a touchdown in the second quarter that gave Green Bay a 10-3 lead, and his two touchdown catches in the second half put the game away.
Bears defensive end Julius Peppers was named defensive player of the week after his three-sack game in Thursday night’s 16-0 win over the Dolphins. Peppers was the star of a Bears defensive effort that held Miami to just 187 yards of total offense. It was Peppers’ eighth career game with at least three sacks.
As we’ve previously noted, Cowboys defensive back Bryan McCann was named the NFC special teams player of the week.
