Shawn Andrews remains in hospital; doubtful to play

Shawn Andrews

The Giants confirmed on Friday just how short-handed they will be up front against the Jaguars this weekend.

Left tackle Diehl and center Shaun O’Hara remain out, along with wide receivers Hakeem Nicks and Steve Smith.  Tackle Shawn Andrews remains in the hospital because of back injuries and is doubtful to play.

Plenty of teams have injury issues at this point of the season, but the Giants have been hit especially hard because their problems have all come at the same positions.  Wide receivers Ramses Barden, Victor Cruz, and Sinorice Moss are already out for the season.

Jacksonville’s pass rush has been better in recent weeks and should have a chance to get after Eli Manning with New York’s offensive line so banged up.

Not to mention we lost Hixon to IR before the season. Our return game sucks bc of that.

Still, jax, wash, and min are the next 3 games. Should win all 3. Season is over if they lose this week (unless of course philly loses, plus either atl or gb is losing too).

  2. norcaleagles says: Nov 26, 2010 4:19 PM

Last season Philly had about 6 starters on IR and still managed to sweep the giants. Get over it! Every single team in the NFL has had injuries and had players hit IR. Philly has 3 starters done for the year with FB Weaver, C Jamaal Jackson, and CB Ellis Hobbs.

  3. tinopuno says: Nov 26, 2010 4:44 PM

Who would ever have expected Shawn Andrews to have back problems? NOBODY saw this coming!!

  4. gcsuk says: Nov 26, 2010 6:07 PM

    @norcaleagles
I’m not quite sure who you’re telling to “get over it”, because the only poster above you is NOT playing the injury card.

Philly has 3 starters on IR? Great, Giants have Hixon (WR), Barden (WR) Cruz (WR) on IR. Additionally Smith (WR) and Nicks (WR) are out for at least 2 more weeks.

Next, they have Koets (OL) on IR. Additionally, they have lost Diehl (OL), O’Hara (OL), Andrews (OL). Do you notice a pattern here?

ALL the Giants injuries are at 2 spots. WR and OL. How do you think Philly would be doing if they lost DJax, Maclin, Avant, Jamal Jackson, Jason Peters, and Todd Herremans? I bet a lot of Eagle fans would be complaining about injuries too.

Philly has 3 starters on IR? Great, Giants have Hixon (who is not a starter) (WR), Barden( who is not a starter (WR) Cruz (who didn’t even make it out of training camp) (WR) on IR.
Congrats, you just named 3 players that have made absolutely no contribution all season. You are shrewd.

Additionally Smith (WR) and Nicks (WR) are out for at least 2 more weeks.( but not on IR so totally irrelvant to the point)

Next, they have Koets (OL) on IR. ( Again, not a starter) Additionally, they have lost Diehl (OL), O’Hara (OL), Andrews (OL). Do you notice a pattern here?

Sure, you just made another irrelevant point. The Eagles also have had starters out on the OL (Peters, Cole and Jackson ) yet they still piledrived the Giants when the game was on the line. Imagine that.

No, actually D.Jackson has missed as many games as Smith and Nicks and J.Jackson is on the IR. Peters has missed 3 games. No complaining here. We are too busy laughing our ass off watching your QB fumble the game away when no one touches him.

Injuries are no excuse. Eagles planted no less than 40 points on the G-Strings in either game last year and NY had only one starter out (Phillips).

Just shut up and deal with the pwnage.

I’m almost bored of beating the Giants but this is almost funny. They thought they we’re stealing a stud. Sorrey but you got a head case. We knew it.

  7. thesmartest1 says: Nov 26, 2010 7:50 PM

    I mean really sorry.

  8. drexelvol says: Nov 26, 2010 8:38 PM

Stashing Cruz on the IR in order to sign other player just came back to bite the Ants in the ass.

  9. geeeeemen says: Nov 26, 2010 9:15 PM

    @thesmartest

What about this proves Andrews is a head case?? Having a back injury doesnt mean you’re a head case. In fact he seems pretty nice and normal on twitter.

response of new york: oh man, we need him back soon, i hope hes better soon

Just two things I have to say to EAGLE Fans. 1960, and Zero Super Bowls.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eagles%E2%80%93Giants_rivalry

Yep, since 1933 the Eagles have practically OWNED the Giants!
    Giants 82 wins
    Eagles 73 wins
    2 ties

    WOW! That’s domination!

I’ll give you the ’70s, when the Eagles did give the Giants a whipping for pretty much the whole decade. But in the last 20 years, it’s 23-21 Eagles. I would hardly call that “owning”. I would call that “rivals who know each other’s team pretty well”.

  13. packeranddarien says: Nov 27, 2010 6:35 AM

Yep, since 1933 the Eagles have practically OWNED the Giants!

Leave it to the Giants clowns to pull out the record books when its irrelevant to the situation.

Why? Philadelphia COMPLETELY owns Pittsburgh in the all time series 46-27-3. Do you think that matters now? Only to someone (like yourself) with the intellect of a chimp or your typical Giants fan (take your pick). Players, coaches, management changes make the all time record irrelevant in the present day discussion.

As far as Jacobs has been there …the last few years have been pretty one sided. I can see why he’s so frustrated.

One more thing….if the teams know each other so well…why have the G-Strings gotten cracked in the last 5 games? Which includes TWO losses at home in the same season, allowing 40 plus in back to back games last year and taking the lead in the 4th quarter of the last contest….only to lose by TEN?

    Hmmmm. That’s a mystery.

lol @ gcsuk. Who cares what happened hundreds of years ago bro. Giants are 0 -5 against the eagles. That ish is hilarious.

Go back to whining about injuries now. :)

As the year 2010 comes to an end lets all celebrate the fact that it has been exactly 2 years and 5 months since Shawn Andrews went goofy. Ladies and Gentlemen it took a team this long to start to get it, a team with almost as goofy of a QB and coach, folks I present to you the New York Giants.

  19. sdw2001 says: Nov 27, 2010 10:18 AM

As much as I can’t stand “get ur mikel pheps on” Andrews, I know from person experience that back pain SUCKS.

eagles fan pathetic how ‘ yall’dominate the giants ?

    —————————————————————–

Hey Bubba! Have you noticed that when you type in the term ‘yall’, the Spell Checker underlines it in red.

Here’s a hit: The fact that ‘yall’ is not actually a word (or combination of words) is apparently a secret kept from a large portion of Southerners, particularly those who dwell in trailers and paste rebel flag decals all over their pickups.

You may think a certain bucolic charm attaches to it’s use, but in fact, it merely identifies the user as a hick.

  22. jayaredee says: Nov 27, 2010 11:04 AM

    GIANTS SUPER BOWL RINGS 3
    PHILADELPHIA EAGLES 0

I am sure eagle fan would gladly trade all wins against the giants for just one superbowl championship, but you cant, so you can watch superbowl highlights of the Jets, Chiefs, Rams, Bucs, and Saints all winning superbowls. OUCH !

  23. gcsuk says: Nov 27, 2010 7:01 PM

    Hey camprobot,
“LOL”? Really? Are we a 14 year old girl here? Maybe you want to put a Smiley icon in there too?

I guess you have to mock history and spin it any way you want. Yep, the Eagles have absolutely dominated the Giants over the last two years. There you go. Hope you girls are happy now.

  24. jayaredee says: Nov 28, 2010 11:34 AM

You also could spin anyway you want. REALITY YOUR TEAM HASN’T WON A SUPERBOWL PERIOD. YEY they beat my team the GIANTS 5 straight times, do they give out Vince Lombardi trophies for that? I think not.
