Bears are peaking at the right time

Yes, it’s past time to take the Bears seriously.

While Chicago’s offense has been up and down all year, their defense has looked like a top-five unit throughout the season. After Sunday’s 31-26 win over Philadelphia, the Bears appear to be putting it all together.

Make no mistake: This has been a different Bears team over the last three weeks. I’d argue that they have played their best three games of the season in succession.

Their 27-13 win over Minnesota wasn’t nearly as close as the score indicated. The 16-0 win in Miami was a thing of beauty by the team’s defense, no matter who was at quarterback for the Dolphins. Jay Cutler’s four touchdown performance against the Eagles blitz to go with Matt Forte’s 117 rushing yards showed the Bears will be very tough to beat when they are at their best.

Chicago will host more quality teams this year (Patriots, Jets) and still have three road games in the division left. There’s a lot of work left to be done, but the Bears are playing their best football at the right time.
