Big start for Texans’ Schaub, bad start for Titans’ Smith

In news that will come as a surprise to exactly no one, Texans quarterback Matt Schaub is off to a much better start than Titans quarterback Rusty Smith today in Houston.

Just two and a half minutes into the second quarter, Schaub has already thrown 16 passes, completing 12 of them for 95 yards. He’s already hit Andre Johnson five times, and he threw a one-yard touchdown pass to Joel Dreessen.

Smith, meanwhile, looks about as good as you’d expect a sixth-round rookie making his first start to look. He completed just one of his first six passes, and he also tossed an early interception. Smith did, however, hit Randy Moss on a nice 14-yard pass along the sideline.

Early in the second quarter, the Texans lead the Titans 7-0.
