During ESPN’s Sunday NFL Countdown, Adam Schefter reported that Eagles cornerback Ellis Hobbs will undergo neck surgery and (citing team sources) that Hobbs likely will retire.

Hobbs’ agent says otherwise, sort of.

Per Tim McManus of PhillySportsDaily.com, Kevin Omell says that no decisions have been made about Hobbs’ future.

“I’m not sure where those rumors are coming from,” Omell said in reference to the notion that Hobbs is likely to retire. “When you have an injury like that and two injuries in a year pretty much, it’s obviously something you think about. But Ellis is a competitive guy and we’re taking a wait-and-see approach. There has really been no decision made.”

Hobbs suffered the injury last Sunday night while returning a kickoff during a 27-17 win over the Giants. He was on the field for more than 10 minutes before being taken off on a stretcher and flashing a thumbs-up to the crowd.
