Bob Sanders hoping to get cleared for practice this week

Bob Sanders

There was one bright spot in the Colts’ Sunday night beatdown at the hands of the Chargers, and it came after the game.

Colts quarterback Peyton Manning indicated in his post-game press conference that Week Thirteen was a “mark date” for many of the team’s injured players to possibly return to action.   Safety Bob Sanders is hoping to be one such player.

NBC’s Andrea Kremer reports that Sanders will visit Dr. James Andrews this week in hopes of getting cleared for practice.  The Colts have long anticipated Sanders returning at some point this year.  Indianapolis figures to be very careful putting Sanders back on the field, so he may have to practice a few weeks.

Other injured Colts that could be returning soon:  running back Joseph Addai, wide receiver Austin Collie, linebacker Clint Session, and linebacker Gary Brackett.

Will be nice to have the team back that can contend for the Super Bowl.

  2. halasfan says: Nov 29, 2010 10:28 AM

Hope they can get going. I would love to see a Colts vs. Bears in the Super Bowl again. Just hope Culter does a better job this time around…

Getting Addai and Hart back would help greatly but this is still a fatally flawed team.

The healthiest group they have is the offensive line, which also happens to be the worst.

As for Sanders, why even bother? He’ll only play 3 or 4 series’ before getting hurt again, hitting IR, and getting cut in the offseason.

After which, he’ll probably go on to have a hall of fame career for the Jags or Patriots, never getting hurt again.

Bob Sanders is the Mike Hampton of the NFL.

  5. ralphwilsonsucks says: Nov 29, 2010 10:50 AM

always hurt, no superbowl run this year.

  6. ppdoc13 says: Nov 29, 2010 11:10 AM

He’ll be in for a handful of plays and get hurt. What is more interesting about this tea with their phenomenal phanbase was all the empty seats a couple of minutes into the 3rd quarter.

the network tried not to pan the stadium, but on a number of occasions couldn’t help it. the place was at least half empty by mid – 3rd quarter and they were actually booing the team and Peyton Manning.

    Great sports town!

  7. knucklebucket says: Nov 29, 2010 11:12 AM

Is getting him back going to stop Manning from throwing interceptions?

  8. somesome says: Nov 29, 2010 11:19 AM

Bob Sanders? For what? Hell get hurt reaching out to make a tackle …..

  9. jasonculhane says: Nov 29, 2010 12:20 PM

    @somesome

Exactly…Why is this news? This guy hasn’t played football in forever…How is this guy going to make a difference…And in think so, is kind of embarrassing isn’t it?

I’d like to go on record here and say the Colts have been kinda built with monopoly money. Outside a couple of players, this team has maybe, maybe below average talent. Once those players are injured its pretty much over.

Bill Polian is now the worst Gm in football period…Can someone argue with me? Right now, worst Gm. You get rid of Lilja who Bill thought was part of the problem or THEE problem and he was part of the answer…Just that decision alone is enough to make me think the guy has lost it…I mean he limps around the stadium, the guy is a walking dinosaur trying to survive in todays climate changes….Busted!

Bob Sanders, Austin Collie and others on that stupid list of “injured” players don’t play on the offensive line…Any team that runs a 3-4 defense will destroy this team…Right now you have Kansas City, New York, New England, Pittsburg, Baltimore who are IN the playoffs right now, and all either base 3-4 or can run it as their primary….There is no chance

Bob Sanders pay check should be cut by two thirds. He only pays one third of the time.

  11. medialovesthecowboys says: Nov 29, 2010 12:56 PM

I wonder if Vegas has an over/under on this getting injured?

  12. AlanSaysYo says: Nov 29, 2010 1:00 PM

If Bob Sanders and Chad Pennington shook hands, who would fall over first?

  13. wallacejay says: Nov 29, 2010 1:18 PM

    @halasfan

Cutler was in Denver the last time around…

  14. fmdog44 says: Nov 29, 2010 1:19 PM

Sander’s playtime should be limited to close games. It makes no sense to play him all the time just to send him out in an ambulance every year. Save him for the playoffs.
What is in #18’s head in the last two games???

  15. quincycarter says: Nov 29, 2010 2:01 PM

Life was so much better when I didn’t have to hear about this walking hamstring pull. Why should we care about Bob Sanders? He doesn’t play and when he does he hasn’t really been good since like 06.

  16. frank booth says: Nov 29, 2010 2:13 PM

He’s like Ron Jeremy. You forget about him for awhile, and the next thing you know, he’s back in action, but just for a short time. Sure, Sanders has a uniform on, and he’s not fat and scabby with a bad pornstache and……

Okay, he’s not like Ron Jeremy. It’s nothing like that at all. But I’ve been aching to do a Ron Jeremy reference.

    @ ppdoc13

I suppose you would’ve sat thru that whole game and cheered the Colts for their terrific performance??? Name 1 city where that would’ve hapopened…you can’t!

I remember being at the Dolphins-Pats game in Foxboro the year “The Wildcat” couldnt be stopped and the Phins destroyed the heavily-favored Pats. People couldnt leave that stadium fast enough in the 3rd quarter!!

Your claim is bogus. It doesnt just happen in Indy, it happens everywhere

  18. obsession55 says: Nov 29, 2010 2:25 PM

    @ knucklebucket

No its not. But maybe if he had time to throw, or if his receivers didnt get tackled, he wouldnt throw picks!! The 1st one last night was his fault, but thats about it. Peyton Manning is not and never has been the problem for this team, its the collection of stiffs that make up the rest of the roster!!

The scary thing is the o-line has not suffered any injuries…they are just flat out pathetic!!! Colts have no chance of winning anything if they cant get the line fixed. Cant run, cant protect Peyton, cant do s—!!!

    Bob Sanders:

Total Possible games he could of played in (exluding playoffs) 107
He has played in 48 of 107 games. 44.8% he has played in.

If I were Bill Polian, I’d cut my losses and waive this Butterfly.

    Great sports town!

I was there til the bitter end with two of my kids, but I can’t blame anyone for leaving a Monday or Sunday night game early if they have to be at work the next am.

But you probably wouldn’t understand because your team probably never gets to play on Sunday or Monday nights.

Quite frankly, Monday and Sunday night home games are not a very big deal to us any longer, because Indy usually has a couple home night games each year. I quite honestly hate them because you don’t get home til 1am.

Please remind us what great sports town you are from???
